Extraskeletal chondroma is a relatively uncommon benign soft tissue tumor, which usually occurs in the hands and feet. The tumor may also occur around the tendon, synovium, or joint capsule. Rare sites are the tongue, testes and liver. Chondroma of the fallopian tube is extremely rare, with only two reports in the English literature. We present the first reported case of extraskeletal chondroma of the fallopian tube causing transportation impairment of the fertilized ovum in a 32-year-old gravida 1, para 1 woman.

The cavernous sinus, often referred to as an "anatomic jewel box" due to its complex structure, presents significant challenges for neurosurgeons when performing tumor resections in this region. Tumors confined to the cavernous sinus are rare, with meningiomas and cranial nerve schwannomas being the most common. Pure intracavernous chondromas, however, are exceptionally rare, representing only a small fraction of intracranial chondromas. To date, only seven cases of pure intracavernous chondromas have been reported in the literature. Here, we report the case of a 37-year-old male who presented

Asphyxiating thoracic dysplasia (ATD), also known as Jeune syndrome, is a rare and serious genetic condition; its incidence in adult populations is even rarer. A 25-year-old male had a 10-year history of chest wall deformity and progressive dyspnoea. A complex chest wall reconstruction, along with the excision of bone tumours, was performed in view of critical hypoxia. Mechanical ventilation was persistently required postoperatively. However, the patient did improve, and eventually proper chest configuration was restored with a special surgical technique. Histopathological analysis demonstrate

BACKGROUND: Chondromas are benign tumors accounting for 0.2-0.3% of all intracranial tumors. They are composed of embryonic cartilaginous material and mostly occur in extradural locations or less frequently in paranasal sinuses, choroid plexus, and dura. In this report, we present a case where a young patient presented with bifrontal parafalcine chondroma.
CASE DESCRIPTION: A 32-year-old female presented with headache for the past 2 years along with blurry vision and forgetfulness for the past 2 months. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) brain showed a bifrontal mixed-intensity lesion located i

UNLABELLED: We report the case of a 35-year-old woman with painful, nontender mass at the right lateral hindfoot. Computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) indicated the suspect of a chondroid tumour in the cuboid. The tumour was resected en bloc and histology revealed the presence of a periosteal (juxtacortical) chondroma with secondary aneurysmal bone cyst. Secondary hyperparathyroidism was detected in laboratory tests and put into context with the histopathologic findings. In conclusion, a rare case of periosteal chondroma of the cuboid with secondary aneurysmal bone cys

Chondroblastoma-like chondroma (CLC) of soft tissue is a rare benign neoplasm that usually involves the soft tissues of the hand. This report describes the first case of CLC of soft tissue arising in the base of the skull. A 33-year-old man was seen with a slow growing mass in the right parotid region of his face. The noncontrast computed tomographic scans showed an 8.5-cm mass with calcifications involving the right masticator space and extending through the bone into the middle cranial fossa. The radiologic differential diagnosis included osteosarcoma, leiomyosarcoma, chondrosarcoma, and gia

An 18-year-old male presented with a chondroma in the petrous apex manifesting as major complaints of headaches and sensorineural hearing disturbance on the right. Head computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging revealed a neoplastic lesion in the right petrous apex, which had bulged to compress the internal auditory meatus. Surgical removal improved his hearing with normalization of the postoperative air conduction threshold by reduction of the pressure of the internal auditory meatus, suggesting that the function of the cochlea was retained and the tumor was compressing the cochleal

Chondroma is a rare benign tumor of the cartilage and occurs in the tracheobronchial tree, either isolated or as part of the Carney triad. It has been sparsely described in the literature, and some were mislabeled as hamartomas. We herein report a case of a 63-year-old female who was initially treated for community-acquired right middle lobe pneumonia. However, the patient's symptoms persisted warranting further workup, which confirmed the diagnosis of post-obstructive pneumonia. Whole-body positron emission tomography (PET) scan showed a hypermetabolic soft tissue lesion within the middle lob

Cranial chondromas are tumours arising from chondrocyte embryonic remnants cells that usually appear in the skull base synchondrosis. In contrast to the rest of the organism, where chondroid tumours are the most common primary bone tumour just behind the haematopoietic lineage ones, they are a rarity at cranial level, with an incidence of less than 1% of intracranial tumours. The case is reported on a 42 year-old male referred to our clinic due to the finding of an extra-axial lesion located close to the Meckel's cave region, with extension to the posterior fossa and brainstem compression afte

Periosteal chondroma is an uncommon benign cartilaginous tumor of bone reported most often in children and young adults but is as of yet unreported in a black child. This is a case of periosteal chondroma in a 9-year-old black female with unusual findings of short duration of symptoms; large size; suspicious x-ray appearance and; aggressive behavior. The lesion was histologically benign and has not recurred six years post curettage.

We report on a 74-year-old man who presented with recurring episodes of asthma. He was admitted in a severe asthmatic state which could not be resolved with the usual bronchodilatatory therapy. An attempt at oro-tracheal intubation failed due to an obstruction in the larynx and the patient died before an emergency tracheotomy could be done. At autopsy a chondroma of the larynx measuring 2.5 x 2.5 x 3 cm was found. It originated from the posterior cricoid cartilage and virtually filled the whole infraglottic space. Chondromas of the larynx are very rare. Dyspnea and hoarseness are the most freq

The occurrence of lumbar spinal chondromas is exceptionally rare, with fewer than 30 cases reported. Due to their rarity and similar presentation to more common spinal pathologies, lumbar spinal chondromas often pose diagnostic challenges. A 19-year-old patient was diagnosed with lumbar spinal chondroma at the L5-S1 level. The tumor was initially misinterpreted as a case of lumbar disc prolapse, and surgical decompression was planned. During surgery, a whitish firm, cartilaginous tumor compressing the S1 nerve root was discovered and excised. A narrative review of the literature was conducted,

Extraskeletal chondromas (ESCs) are rare benign tumours composed of mature cartilage that typically develop in soft tissues. Their occurrence in horses is extremely uncommon and, to the authors' knowledge, no previous cases of lingual ESCs in equines have been reported. This report describes a two-year-old Quarter Horse colt presented with progressive dysphagia. Clinical examination revealed a solitary, multilobulated, firm-elastic mass located at the dorsal aboral portion (base) of the tongue. Diagnostic imaging ruled out bone involvement. The mass was surgically excised under general anaesth

Chondroma of the dural convexity (CDC) is a benign and extremely rare type of intracranial chondroma. In this study, we reported five CDCs in a single center and reviewed the available literature to determine the clinical characteristics and surgical outcomes and possible origins of the disease. The clinical data of five patients (4 females) who confirmed to be CDC between 2000 and 2019 in our single center was collected together with 22 cases from literatures. The clinical characteristics and surgical outcomes were reviewed and analyzed. Among all the available CDC cases, the mean age was 31

We report of a pathological fracture of the middle phalanx of the little finger due to periosteal chondroma. The periosteal chondroma occupied an extensive area of the middle phalanx extending to the proximal interphalangeal joint, and the fracture involved the distal interphalangeal articular surface. The fracture was internally fixed using a strut bone grafting after resection of the chondroma. One year and four months after the operation, remodeling of the phalanx had completed without recurrence and functional loss.

A patient with a nasal chondroma and Ollier's disease treated at the Institut Gustave-Roussy, Villejuif, had a long past medical history of over 10 years, starting with a nasal lesion diagnosed as a myxoma. Follow up clinical and radiologic examinations failed to detect recurrences. The discovery, ten years after excision of tumor, of multiple skeletal enchondromas raised the hypothesis of Ollier's disease, this being responsible for the myxoid chondroma of the nasal cavities. A past medical history of surgery to the left lower limb presenting a valgus deformity, and of a left suborbital angio
