Intracranial xanthogranulomas are rare benign tumors and occur most commonly as choroid plexus xanthogranulomas, which rarely become symptomatic. Exact etiology is still a matter of debate. We present a case of xanthogranuloma of the choroid plexus of the third ventricle, causing obstructive hydrocephalus of the lateral ventricles.

Choroid plexus papilloma (CPP) is a rare, benign epithelial brain tumor of the nervous system seen particularly in infants. Familial cases are extremely uncommon. Some other form of malignant tumors was noted in the relatives of patients with CPPs, and some genetic defects regarding this coincidence were reported in the literature. These neoplasms are occasionally bilateral and hydrocephalus is an associated sign in most of the cases. Primary central nervous system atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumors mostly occur during early childhood and are almost invariably fatal. Choroid plexus papillomas (CPP) are rare intracranial tumours with a favourable long-term outcome after surgical excision. Although they are histologically benign, local recurrences may occasionally occur, but leptomeningeal dissemination is exceptional. Choroid plexus papilloma, a rare tumour in bovids, arising from the roof of the third ventricle was diagnosed at necropsy in a 4-year-old Scottish Highland cow. A case of Aicardi syndrome associated with a choroid plexus papilloma of the third and both lateral ventricles in a 15 months old baby girl is repported. The tumor was completely removed via three craniotomies. Reports of the literature with the association of choroid plexus papilloma and Aicardi syndrome are rare. We suggest that children diagnosed with Aicardi syndrome should routinely undergo imaging studies of the brain, such as computed tomography or magnetic resonance.

Intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) uncommonly occurs in an otherwise healthy term neonate. A 14-year-old boy with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in remission developed headaches characteristic of migraines. His neurologic examination was normal, serial studies of cerebrospinal fluid were unremarkable, and the headaches responded promptly to antimigraine therapy. The authors present a case of lung large cell carcinoma with a single metastatic tumor in the choroid plexus of the lateral ventricle trigone. We report a case of malignant choroid plexus papilloma (MCPP) of the IV ventricle in a child with prominent extraventricular expansive growth, mostly into the cerebellopontine angle. A case of choroid plexus neoplasm histologically composed of tubular structures lined by a layer of cuboidal epithelium is reported. The neoplasm was located in the fourth ventricle of a 26-year-old man. The intense positivity for antisera anti-vimentin, anti-cytokeratin, anti-EMA and anti-S100 protein exhibited by these cells was consistent with choroid plexus origin. The patient is alive and in good health 5 years after surgery. The lesion represents a benign choroid plexus neoplasm not previously reported. The name "tubular adenoma of choroid plexus" is suggested for this variant.

A newborn infant with marked hydrocephalus had a large papilloma of the choroid plexus originating in the fourth ventricle and infiltrating the brain stem. The computed tomographic (CT) scan appearance was distinctive, showing vascularity and marked enhancement with contrast medium. Histological confirmation was made from several surgical sites. Total removal of the tumor was not possible. Review of congenital choroid plexus brain tumors reveals the location of this child's tumor in the fourth ventricle to be uncommon.
