Documentation of Drug-Related Problems with ICD-11: Application of the New WHO Code-Set to Clinical Routine Data.

Drug-related problems (DRPs), i.e., adverse drug reactions (ADRs) and medication errors (MEs), constitute a serious threat to the patient's safety. DRPs are often insufficiently captured by clinical routine documentation, and thus, they frequently remain unaddressed. The aim of this study was to assess the coverage and usability of the new 11th revision of the WHO International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11) to document DRPs. We refined the 'Quality and Safety Algorithm' from the ICD-11 Reference Guide and used it for DRP reporting to code 100 different anonymized DRPs (50 ADRs and 50 MEs

Unraveling Non-coding RNAs and dysregulation of TGF-β signalling in cardiorenal syndrome, a focused review for molecular and clinical applications.

Cardiorenal syndrome denotes a complicated interaction in which abnormalities in one organ, the kidneys or the heart, cause abnormalities in the other, resulting in severe co-morbidities and a higher risk of death. Developing successful treatment plans requires understanding the molecular underpinnings of this reciprocal connection. According to recent studies, non-coding RNAs, particularly microRNAs, are essential modulators of gene expression in the setting of renal and cardiovascular disorders within CRS. This review summarizes the current knowledge about the functions of ncRNAs and the tra

Evaluation of a clinical score to predict post-sclerotherapy hyperpigmentation compared with the Skin Hyperpigmentation Index: a prospective Skin Code study.

Post-sclerotherapy hyperpigmentation (PSH) is a common complication following sclerotherapy for telangiectasias and reticular veins. However, tools for pre-procedural prediction of PSH are limited, making pre-treatment identification of patients at greater risk a challenge. This research aimed to evaluate a clinical scoring system (Skin Code Score) designed to estimate the individual risk of PSH. A prospective, single-center, single-arm study was conducted. Adult female patients with telangiectasias and reticular veins were treated and evaluated for pigmentation risk using the Skin Code Score

Clinical report and genetic analysis of a neonate with genitourinary and/or brain malformation syndrome caused by a non-coding sequence variant of PPP1R12A.

BACKGROUND: Genitourinary and/or brain malformation syndrome (GUBS) is a recently discovered syndrome involving abnormalities of the neurological or urogenital system. PPP1R12A may be the pathological gene causing this syndrome. Currently, to our knowledge, there is only one study related to GUBS in the world. Here, we report a clinical case of a Chinese newborn with congenital micropenis caused by a non-coding sequence pathogenic variant of PPP1R12A, providing additional evidence on genetic causes of genital malformation. METHODS: The genetic cause of the patient's malformation was detected

Improved Prediction of Imminent Progression to Clinically Significant Memory Decline Using Surface Multivariate Morphometry Statistics and Sparse Coding.

BACKGROUND: Besides their other roles, brain imaging and other biomarkers of Alzheimer's disease (AD) have the potential to inform a cognitively unimpaired (CU) person's likelihood of progression to mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and benefit subject selection when evaluating promising prevention therapies. We previously described that among baseline FDG-PET and MRI measures known to be preferentially affected in the preclinical and clinical stages of AD, hippocampal volume was the best predictor of incident MCI within 2 years (79%sensitivity/78%specificity), using standard automated MRI volum

Long Non-Coding RNA NEAT1 Inhibits Enterovirus 71 Replication by Enhancing IFN-β Transcription Through DDX60 Signaling: Pathological Insights and Clinical Implications.

Enterovirus 71 (EV71) is the principal pathogen linked to severe hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD), with its pathogenesis remaining poorly understood. Here, we found that EV71 infection dramatically increases the expression of NEAT1, resulting in the formation of paraspeckles. Notably, NEAT1 specifically enhances IFN-β transcription via the DDX60-IRF7 pathway, thereby promoting host resistance to EV71. Further experiments indicated that NEAT1 serves as a positive feedback for DDX60 signaling. In detail, NEAT1 facilitates the relocation of the paraspeckle protein SFPQ to the paraspeckle. Thi

Clinical implications and molecular mechanism of long noncoding RNA LINC00518 and protein-coding genes in skin cutaneous melanoma by genome‑wide investigation.

Skin cutaneous melanoma (SKCM) is a cancer with serious global impact. Long non-coding RNA was previously found to be associated with tumor prognosis. This research focuses on long intergenic non-protein coding (LINC) RNAs, and correlated protein-coding genes (PCGs), to explore their diagnostic and prognostic value, function and mechanism. Gene expression data was obtained from TCGA and Oncomine for analysis; in total there were 458 cases included in this study. LIN00518 and the 10 most highly correlated PCGs were selected to determine the diagnostic and prognostic value. We undertook bioinfor
