BACKGROUND: Gynecomastia, a benign proliferation of mammary gland tissue in males, negatively affects body image and can cause psychological distress. Surgical treatments such as subcutaneous mastectomy and liposuction are common but may result in complications like scarring and hematoma. The arthroscopic shaver, originally used for varicose vein and arthroscopic surgeries, has shown promise for soft tissue removal. This study compares the outcomes of liposuction combined with the pull-through technique and the arthroscopic shaver in gynecomastia treatment.

BACKGROUND: Sagittal profile descriptions of supracondylar humerus fractures are limited. We describe a reverse oblique (RO) pattern in which the distal fragment has a prominent anterior spike that is displaced posterior to the proximal fragment. This pattern presents a challenge during closed manipulation utilizing traditional reduction maneuvers. The purpose of this study is to compare the clinical and radiographic characteristics of the RO and non-RO patterns of supracondylar humerus fractures. We hypothesized that the RO pattern would be associated with greater soft tissue trauma.

The ruptured popliteal synovial cyst is a common complication of chronic knee arthritis. In contrast, non-popliteal synovial rupture is less well recognized and may present a diagnostic dilemma. We report an 81-year-old woman who presented with chest wall pain and ecchymosis. Ultrasonography of the shoulder region readily diagnosed a dissecting parasynovial cyst.
