Inflammatory resolution is a process that, when uncontrolled, impacts many organs and diseases. As an active, self-limited inflammatory process, resolution involves biosynthesis of specialized proresolving mediators (SPM) (e.g., lipoxins, resolvins [Rv], protectins, and maresins).
