BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: One of the challenges of laparoscopic partial nephrectomies is the repair of a collecting system injury. We hypothesized that fibrin glue plus Gelfoam could be sufficient to repair such injuries.

We describe the histopathologic features of uterine leiomyoma after uterine artery embolization (UAE) in a 42-year-old woman. This patient, who was taking antiplatelet drugs for the treatment of cerebral disease, successfully underwent UAE using only gelatin sponge particles for a symptomatic uterine leiomyoma. Trauma to the liver occasionally produces vascular malformations, usually pseudoaneurysms of the hepatic artery and sometimes arteriovenous fistulas. Hemorrhagic complications, usually in the form of hemobilia, can result, and portal hypertension is a late complication of an arterial-portal vein fistula. The true incidence of these post-traumatic lesions is apparently much higher than previously realized, and they can regress spontaneously. Twenty female pigs underwent laparotomy during which transection of both uterine horns and wedge resection of both ovaries were performed with a standard technique. We report three cases of left ventricular free wall rupture (LVFWR) after acute myocardial infarction, which were repaired using a sutureless technique without cardiopulmonary bypass.
