Protostrongylus (Pulmostrongylus) pulmonalis from Lepus europaeus in Italy (Alto Adige) was studied. Most of the parasite population showed the typical morphology described for this species. Variations observed in the morphological features of gubernaculum, antero-lateral ray and telamon are considered to lie within the range of variability of the species. This is the first record of Protostrongylus (Pul.) pulmonalis in hares in Italy.

Perineal ectopic testis is a rare congenital anomaly and remains a urologic curiosity. We report the course of 2 recurrent cases after hormonal therapy and a third case associated with inguinal hernia. During the surgical exploration, the gubernaculum testis was found fixed to the perineum. The testes were placed in the scrotum. The evaluation of differential diagnosis of empty scrotum is recommended.

BACKGROUND/PURPOSE: The ligament that lies in the inguinal hernia sac of girls is known to be the round ligament and is described as homologous to the male gubernaculum. An ovary in a hernia sac might be assumed to mimic descent of the testis. The aim of this study is to determine whether this ligament has a role in final ovarian position.
METHODS: Samples of peritoneal tissues containing the ligament were obtained from 15 female infants and children who underwent inguinal hernia repair. Tissue specimens were evaluated through histopathologic and immunohistological analyses.

Moennigia celinae n. sp. collected from the small intestine of Chaetophractus vellerosus and Chaetophractus villosus (Xenarthra, Dasypodidae) from Argentina is herein described. Testicular descent occurs in two morphologically distinct phases, each under different hormonal control from the testis itself. A new species of nematode, Orientatractis longicaudata n. sp. is described from the intestine of Indotestudo elongata (Blyth) (Testudinidae) from Zoo of Tianjin, Tianjin, China. The new species can be easily distinguished from its congers by having longer tail, by the length of gubernaculum and left spicule, and by the numbers of caudal papillae. This is first species of Orientatractis Petter, 1966 reported in China. A key to the species of Orientatractis is provided.

A unique case with fully developed testes and epididymis on the same side has been presented. The hypothesis to explain such a rare occurrence is a failure of the development of one-sided gubernaculums coupled with intra-abdominal adhesions of both the cords resulting in unilateral descent of both the testes. In females, the Mullerian ducts fuse to form the uterus; such a phenomenon in the case of Wolffian ducts is an impossibility, but fusion of vasa deferens and cords in this case point to such a happening.
