Background: The influence of the working environment on the back health of employees is well-documented. Many companies have begun to offer employees access to services to promote back health. Factors affecting the use of these offers at the population level have received little investigation to date. The current study examined the socio-demographic factors, physical activity and health-related factors, and work-related factors associated with the use of offers of workplace health promotion for back health in Germany. Materials and Methods: In the representative population-based cross-sectiona

ISSUE ADDRESSED: Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming public health and health promotion (PHHP) practice, creating a need for graduates who can use AI ethically, critically and effectively. Although AI is increasingly being incorporated into higher education, the focus has been on individual units or assessment tasks, with limited guidance available for embedding AI capabilities across entire courses. This study responded to this gap by developing a curriculum framework for integrating AI capability across postgraduate PHHP programmes.
METHODS: An iterative co-design approach was unde

In recent years, videogames have attracted growing attention not only for their recreational value, but also for their potential to foster personal and social identity, enhance cognitive functioning, and promote psychological wellbeing. Consistent with a biopsychosocial perspective on health, this paper conceptualizes gaming as a psychological, behavioral, and social resource that can be purposefully integrated into health-promotion practice, and explores its use within care contexts, with a particular focus on university students. In 2025, Link Campus University in Rome launched a psychologic

BACKGROUND: Obesity leads to increased oxidative stress, disruption of the antioxidant system, and decreased bioavailability of nitric oxide (NO). This, in turn, contributes to impaired endothelial function. The resulting increase in arterial stiffness (AS) has been associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Regular physical activity improves the antioxidant system and vascular function. Circuit training combines aerobic exercise and resistance training, encapsulating the benefits of both types of exercise, and helps improve vascular function. We aimed to investigate th

BACKGROUND: The national objectives in Healthy People 2000, drafted by health professionals aware of currently available public health interventions, represent a wealth of information about near-term future mortality and morbidity.
METHODS: Life table methods were used to calculate the impact of projected changes in mortality and activity limitation rates on life expectancy and expected disability years.
RESULTS: Meeting the mortality objectives would increase life expectancy at birth by 1.5 to 2.1 years, raising life expectancy to 76.6 to 77.2 years. In addition, meeting the target for disa

In an ever-evolving health communication landscape, nonprofit organizations must move beyond just maintaining a passive digital presence. Rather, they must actively engage communities to promote meaningful health outcomes. The Broward Regional Health Planning Council (BRHPC), serving Broward County, Florida, executed a year-long public health social media campaign to increase awareness of and educate the community about preventable health conditions. Among these were cardiovascular disease, oral cancer, and obesity. The campaign targeted Broward County's diverse audience of community residents

Individuals with Spina Bifida (SB) have unique lifelong medical and social needs. Thus, when considering how to promote health and offer preventive care, providers must adapt general healthcare screening and counseling recommendations to their patients' physical and cognitive impairments along with discerning how to monitor secondary or chronic conditions common to the population. This article provides an update on the health promotion and preventive health care guidelines developed as part of the Spina Bifida Association's fourth edition of the Guidelines for the Care of People with Spina Bif

Child health surveillance (CHS) has evolved greatly over the past 30 years from a proactive screening process by health professionals to a more passive approach of child health promotion (CHP), which places the main responsibility for detection of developmental problems on carers. The impetus for this change came from the Hall Report (1989), which reported a lack of evidence for CHS. Although research on developmental screening is sparse, some data show that use of structured methods for identifying deviations from normal increases the pick-up rate of abnormalities, compared with informal or p

Overweight and obesity, lack of exercise, and exposure to tobacco smoke are clearly identified behavioral risk factors for cardiovascular disease. These problems disproportionately affect some communities. To address these problems within one community of underserved Latinos, participatory research methods were used to design an outreach program through a collaborative partnership between UCLA School of Nursing, Los Angeles County Department of Health Services, and members of the target community. Latina lay health advisors (LHAs) (n = 12) from the community were recruited and trained to teach
