Bone hydatid disease is a rare pathology, characterized by its long clinical latency, the absence of radiological specificity as well as its challenging surgical treatment. This is a case of a 50-year-old woman diagnosed with recurrent cervical adenocarcinoma presenting with chronic and persistent low back pain. She underwent myomectomy for myoma uteri 8 years prior. Histopathology report revealed cervical cancer. She underwent chemotherapy, brachytherapy and external beam radiotherapy. Between 1980 and 1997, we treated 39 patients (mean age 39 (16-66) years, 24 men) with megaprosthetic replacement of a large bone defect (> 10 cm) of the pelvis. The bone resection was necessary in 38 cases due to malignant bone and soft tissue tumors and in 1 case due to hydatid disease. Polyacetal hemipelvic replacement was performed in 29 cases, CAD hemipelvic replacement in 8 cases, and a saddle prosthesis was inserted in 2 cases. All patients were followed clinically and radiographically. The mean follow-up was 58 (15-110) months. 20 patients have died of their tumor. 10 local infections

Giant-cell tumours are benign aggressive bone lesions that can affect any part of the skeleton. Motorized intramedullary lengthening nails allow for transport of a bone segment for limb lengthening, deformity correction, healing of nonunion, and intercalary distraction osteogenesis. Twelve fractures of the femur occurred after irradiation in 12 patients during the past 15 years. All 12 patients had excision of a soft tissue sarcoma of the thigh. The periosteum was stripped in every case. The fractures had a deceptively innocuous radiographic appearance, which showed minimal comminution, displacement, and shortening. Nine cases of untreatable tumour in which radical surgery was employed palliatively are presented. Three hemipelvectomies for recurrent rhabdomyosarcoma were performed.
