OBJECTIVE: The study aims to assess whether the use of a peritoneal flap (PF) during robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) with pelvic lymph node dissection (PLND) reduces the incidence of lymphoceles compared to the standard surgical approach without a flap.
METHODS: The review was prospectively registered on PROSPERO (CRD420251052120). A systematic search of PubMed, MEDLINE, Embase, Scopus, Web of Science, CENTRAL and Google Scholar was performed up to May 2025. Eligible studies were randomised controlled trials (RCTs) or observational studies comparing PF use with the standard surg

UNLABELLED: <p>Introduction: Lymphocele is one of the complications after lymphadenectomy for female pelvic malignancies. In recent years, some studies indicated that the use of biomedical materials during surgery for gynecological malignancies may help to reduce the occurrence of lymphatic cysts, but results were inconsistent. The aim of the study was to evaluate the correlation between the use of biomedical materials intraoperatively and formation of lymphocele after lymph node dissection in patients with gynecological malignancies.
METHODS: We conducted a systematic search of 4 electronic

Introduction: Robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) with extended pelvic lymph node dissection (PLND) represents the gold standard surgical treatment for high-risk localized prostate cancer. PLND carries the risk of lymphocele formation, which can lead to complications such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT), infection, and voiding dysfunction. Many techniques have been described to minimize lymphocele formation, yet no method has seen widespread use or been described as sutureless. The objective of this study is to describe the novel, sutureless peritoneal window (PWIN) technique and assess

BACKGROUND: Different strategies have been proposed to prevent lymphocele (LC) formation after radical prostatectomy (RARP) with pelvic lymph node dissection (PLND). According to several recently published randomized control trials (RCTs) on the topic, peritoneal reconfiguration appears to be associated with promising results. This systematic review aimed to assess the impact of peritoneal reconfiguration on LC formation in patients undergoing RARP and PLND.
METHODS: A comprehensive bibliographic search was conducted in August 2023. Studies assessing patients with prostate cancer undergoing R

INTRODUCTION: Robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) with pelvic lymphadenectomy (PLND) is the "gold standard" for the surgical treatment of prostate cancer with the risk of lymphatic involvement more or equal 5% according to predictive nomograms. PLND is associated with the development of lymphatic complications (lymphocele, lymphedema) with a frequency up to 51%.
AIM: To evaluate the effectiveness of intraoperative navigation technique via a gamma probe and lymphotropic tracer (99mTc) during RARP with PLND to prevent the incidence of postoperative lymphatic complications.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Postoperative lymphoceles and further wound complications occur frequently after radical inguinal lymph node dissection (ILND). In various studies, tissue sealants have shown to reduce the incidence of postoperative morbidity.
METHODS: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) investigating the effectiveness of tissue sealants in reducing the incidence of postoperative lymphoceles following ILND in patients with melanoma was conducted. Individual patient data was requested to pool the data for meta-analysis appropriately.

Soft tissue sarcomas are a rare group of malignant tumors that often require an extensive surgical resection to be safely treated. When they are localized in the upper medial thigh, this treatment inevitably leads to large defects frequently causing a series of early and late postoperative complications. Among these, lymphocele and lymphedema are rather common and should try to be avoided. Many solutions with a demonstrated efficacy have been described for this purpose after groin dissection procedure, ranging from lymphovenous anastomosis to pedicled or free flaps. Anyway, there is much less

BACKGROUND: Pelvic lymphocele is the most common complication after robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) with pelvic lymph node dissection (PLND), of which symptomatic lymphocele (sLC) ranges up to 10% and is associated with poorer perioperative outcomes. Peritoneal flap fixation (PFF) is a promising intraoperative modification to reduce sLC formation but the clinical evidence failed to reach consistency.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Randomized and nonrandomized comparative studies comparing postoperative sLC occurrence with or without PFF after RARP with PLND were identified through a syste

BACKGROUND: Robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) including pelvic lymph node dissection (PLND) is the current state of the art in surgical therapy of localized prostate cancer with intermediate or high risk. PLND in particular is associated with morbidity inherent to this method; the rate of symptomatic lymphoceles (sLCs), for example, ranges up to 10%.
OBJECTIVE: Various intraoperative modifications have been developed with the aim of reducing the sLC rate. Based on current studies, a peritoneal interposition flap (PIF) appears to be one of the most effective methods for this purpose.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of a surgically constructed bilateral peritoneal flap (PIF) as an adjunct to robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) and pelvic lymph node dissection (PLND) on the incidence of lymphoceles.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 530 men with localized prostate cancer underwent a RARP with bilateral extended standardized PLND in a prospective randomized controlled trial. In group A, a PIF was created by suturing the margins of the bladder peritoneum to the ipsilateral endopelvic fascia at 2 points on each side. In group B, no PIF

BACKGROUND: Sarcoma surgery often requires large tissue resection to be treated safely. When the tumor is localized in the groin and/or medial thigh, lymphocele and lymphedema are common complications because of the rich lymphatic network present there. The aim of this study is to share the outcome of seven patients who received defect reconstruction in this area with combined pedicled superficial circumflex artery perforator (SCIP) flap with lymphatic tissue preservation and lymphovenous anastomosis (LVA) for prevention of lymphatic complications.

OBJECTIVE: We investigated patients who underwent robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) with pelvic lymph node dissection (PLND), analyzing the prevalence and risk factors associated with symptomatic lymphoceles (SLCs).
METHODS: We evaluated 354 consecutive patients who underwent RARP with PLND by our team between June 2016 and December 2022. After analyzing the prevalence of SLCs, patients were divided into two groups, with and without SLCs. The variables were age, body mass index (BMI), prostate-specific antigen, surgery time, blood loss, length of stay, International Society of Urolo

BACKGROUND: Lymphocele is the most common complication arising after pelvic lymph node dissection (PLND) in the setting of robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP). The only data available until now on the utility of a peritoneal flap to prevent lymphocele were retrospectively acquired.
METHODS: A randomized, controlled, multi-center trial with blinded assessment of endpoints was carried out on 232 patients with prostate cancer who underwent RARP with PLND. The patients in the intervention group were given a peritoneal flap; in the control group, surgery was performed without this modifica

Lymphocele following kidney transplant is a common occurrence, but on occasion, what appears to be a lymphocele is not. We present an unusual case of a kidney transplant recipient whose presumed lymphocele was actually a spermatocele. Our patient is a 60-year-old man who is 11 years status post his second deceased donor kidney transplant. The original cause of his renal failure was poststreptococcal glomerulonephritis. He was followed with this nonobstructing lymphocele for years, but wished to have it addressed at the time of sigmoidectomy for recurrent diverticulitis. Preoperative imaging in
