Efficient designing of half-moon-shaped chalcogen heterocycles as non-fullerene acceptors for organic solar cells.

One key strategy to further improve the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of organic solar cells (OSCs) is to incorporate various complementary functional groups in a molecule. Such strategies proved attractive for tuning the photovoltaic performances of the materials and can show a much higher absorption phenomenon with narrower band gaps. Despite the outstanding benefits, materials selection and their efficient modeling is also an extremely challenging job for the development of OSCs materials. In this manuscript, we proficiently developed an efficient series of small molecule-based non-full

Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction Using a Combination of Autograft and Allograft Tendon: A MOON Cohort Study.

BACKGROUND: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction with hamstring autografts less than 8.5 mm in diameter is associated with worse patient-reported outcome scores and increased risk of revision surgery compared with reconstructions performed with larger grafts. One proposed solution to small autograft harvest is to create a hybrid graft by augmenting autografts with allograft tissue to increase graft diameter. PURPOSE: To compare hybrid autograft/allograft ACL reconstruction to autograft ACL reconstruction, specifically analyzing the patient-reported outcome scores and the risk of re

The dark side of the moon: the immune-mediated adverse events of IL-17A/IL-17R inhibition.

As aberrant IL-17 signaling plays a critical role in the pathogenesis of psoriasis, biologic agents targeting this pathway have become an important weapon against this disease. Some biologic agents such as IL-17 inhibitors (secukinumab and ixekizumab) and the IL-17 receptor (IL17R) inhibitor (brodalumab) are relatively safe, tolerable and efficacious drugs. Nevertheless, side effects of IL-17 pathway inhibition occur. This review focuses on the dermatological manifestations linked to these treatments. Paradoxical psoriasis and atopic-like eczema may be the most common cutaneous adverse events,

Primary Hypertension as the Presenting Feature of Laurence-Moon-Bardet-Biedl Syndrome: A Report of Two Children.

Laurence-Moon-Bardet-Biedl syndrome (LMBBS) is a rare ciliopathic genetic multisystem disorder. It has several primary and secondary clinical features, which include central obesity, retinitis pigmentosa, mental subnormalities, polydactyly, and renal dysfunction. The majority of children may not show all clinical features at birth, and clinical features can develop progressively over the years. The authors report two children who were followed up for obesity at the pediatric clinic in the local hospital and the ophthalmology clinic at the tertiary care center, respectively, without a diagnosis

Recurrent episodes of hemorrhagic alveolitis in relapsing catastrophic antiphospholipid syndrome: the same side of the dark moon.

Catastrophic antiphospholipid syndrome (CAPS) is a rare variant of antiphospholipid syndrome characterized by widespread thrombotic microangiopathy and multiorgan failure. Clinically, CAPS signs and symptoms can mimic vasculitis of systemic lupus erythematosus, disseminated intravascular coagulation, and thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura. CAPS is burdened by high mortality, nearly 50% in most series. However, patients surviving the acute phase rarely suffer of CAPS relapses. Moreover, concomitant pulmonary hemorrhagic alveolitis is a very rare complication warranting an ominous prognosis. On

On-orbit radiometric calibration of FY-3E MERSI-LL low light band (LLB) using the Moon.

The Medium Resolution Spectral Imager-Low Light (MERSI-LL) on board Fengyun-3E (FY-3E) is equipped with a low-light band (LLB), marking the first achievement of low-light remote sensing capabilities for Fengyun meteorological satellites. In response to the complexity of on-orbit radiometric calibration for LLB, a calibration method using the Moon as a stable natural target was adopted. This study compiled ten active lunar observations from MERSI-LL under the operational mode from 2022 to 2024, covering phase angles from -17.3° to 5.4°. Qualitative comparisons and quantitative analyses were con

Pineal gland as an endocrine gravitational lunasensor: manifestation of moon-phase dependent morphological changes in mice.

We found that some morphological properties of the pineal gland and submandibular salivary gland of mice are significantly distinct at the new and full moon. We suppose that the differences are initiated by the displacements of the electron-dense concretions in the secretory vesicles of pinealocytes. This presumably occurs under the influence of the gravitational field, which periodically changes during different phases of the moon. It seems that the pinealocyte is both an endocrine and gravisensory cell. A periodic secretion of the pineal gland probably stimulates, in a lunaphasic mode, the n

Starvation tolerance and physiological deterioration in the ephyrae of the moon jellyfish Aurelia coerulea: Dynamics of biomolecules and respiration.

This study examines the physiological mechanisms underlying starvation tolerance and the deterioration of homeostasis prior to death in the ephyrae of the moon jellyfish Aurelia coerulea von Lendenfeld, 1884. Ephyrae were starved at 12°C for up to 50 days while monitoring morphological, histochemical, biomolecular, and respiratory changes. Dry mass and contents of protein, collagen, lipids, and carbohydrates declined exponentially throughout starvation. In contrast, DNA content remained stable until approximately 30 days, then decreased abruptly. This pattern indicates that extensive cell loss

Variations in the Timing of Bipolar Mood Cycles Associated With Interactions of the Moon's Synodic, Tropical, and Anomalistic Cycles.

The Moon's motion around the Earth is complex, governed by interactions among several types of cycles that arise from different aspects of its orbit. The 29.53-day synodic cycle occurs as the Moon passes through new-moon and full-moon alignments (syzygies) with the Earth and the Sun. The 27.32-day tropical cycle occurs as the Moon moves back and forth between its northernmost and southernmost positions (standstills) relative to the plane of the Earth's equator. The 27.55-day anomalistic cycle occurs as the Moon moves back and forth from its nearest and farthest distances from the Earth (perige

Perspectives on the physics of late-type stars from beyond low earth orbit, the moon and mars.

With the new discoveries enabled thanks to the recent space missions, stellar physics is going through a revolution. However, these discoveries opened the door to many new questions that require more observations. The European Space Agency's Human and Robotic Exploration program provides an excellent opportunity to push forward the limits of our knowledge and better understand stellar structure and dynamics evolution. Long-term observations, Ultra-Violet observations, and a stellar imager are a few highlights of proposed missions for late-type stars that will enhance the already planned space

Receptor-dependent effects of sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) in COVID-19: the black side of the moon.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus type 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection leads to hyper-inflammation and amplified immune response in severe cases that may progress to cytokine storm and multi-organ injuries like acute respiratory distress syndrome and acute lung injury. In addition to pro-inflammatory cytokines, different mediators are involved in SARS-CoV-2 pathogenesis and infection, such as sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P). S1P is a bioactive lipid found at a high level in plasma, and it is synthesized from sphingomyelin by the action of sphingosine kinase. It is involved in inflammation,

Sex differences in the effects of the moon on ischemic stroke incidence: new findings from Beijing, China.

Stroke is a major cause of death and disability in China, and no therapies have proven effective to prevent it. Popular belief holds that the lunar cycle affects human physiology, behavior, and health. The aim of our study is to determine whether the lunar cycle impacts the incidence of stroke subtypes [intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), transient ischemic attack (TIA) and ischemic stroke (IS)]. We retrospectively extracted the discharge registry data of all patients with first-ever acute stroke hospitalized in the affiliated hospital of Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine during 2

50 Years of Catecholaminergic Polymorphic Ventricular Tachycardia (CPVT) - Time to Explore the Dark Side of the Moon.

Despite significant progress in understanding catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT), there are still multiple uncertainties and gaps in our knowledge. Like the dark side of the moon, we cannot see them directly. Unfortunately, clinicians must make diagnostic and therapeutic decisions without solid evidence. Instead of summarising the current state of science and reiterating the guidelines, we review difficulties in understanding the disease mechanism, diagnosis and therapy. Highlighting these truths helps to avoid misconceptions, think clearly about our patients and dire

CPAP for secondary cardiovascular prevention in obstructive sleep apnoea patients: not only one moon, but many stars.

While continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy has a strong evidence base for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA), its impact on cardiovascular comorbidity remains unclear. This journal club reviews three recent randomised controlled trials aimed to evaluate the impact of CPAP therapy in secondary prevention of cerebrovascular and coronary heart disease (SAVE trial), comorbid coronary heart disease (RICCADSA trial) and in patients admitted with acute coronary syndrome (ISAACC trial). All three trials included patients with moderate-to-severe OSA and excluded patients with
