Teledermatology consultation using a smartphone multimedia messaging service for common skin diseases in the Korean army: a clinical evaluation of its diagnostic accuracy.

We evaluated the diagnostic accuracy of teleconsultations for skin diseases common in the army using a smartphone multimedia messaging service (MMS). Images of skin lesions were obtained from 100 army patients using digital cameras built into smartphones. Three remotely located dermatologists received the dermatology images and associated clinical information via the MMS. The teledermatologists' diagnoses were compared with those obtained from face-to-face examinations. The three most common diagnoses made at the dermatology clinics were eczema, viral warts and fungal infections. The mean diag

Development of a cohort multiple randomized clinical trial to test an integrated system of sensors and multimedia monitors technology, for stroke rehabilitation: the ROOMMATE study protocol.

BACKGROUND: Stroke remains a leading cause of disability globally, creating significant challenges for healthcare systems. Early intensive rehabilitation is recommended (NICE2023) for functional recovery; but standard therapy may not cover all patients' needs. Stroke survivors should continue active task practice outside of scheduled therapy sessions (self-directed, or semi-supervised by family and caregivers), possibly by sustainable technological solutions. However, most technology-based ecosystems are not designed for healthcare. To test a digital stroke rehab ecosystem Randomized Clinical

Multimedia article. Combined sentinel node biopsy and localized sigmoid resection entirely by natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery: a new challenge to the old paradigm.

INTRODUCTION: We demonstrate localized sigmoidectomy with sentinel node biopsy performed entirely via natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery in a porcine model (see Video, Supplemental Digital Content 1, http://links.lww.com/A1170). METHODS: To perform transluminal endoscopic sentinel node biopsy in the sigmoid mesocolon, a conventional double-channel gastroscope created both the gastrotomy and pneumoperitoneum enabling peritoneoscopy. The sigmoid colon was exposed by an intracolonic magnet under extracorporeal control while intraluminal colonoscopy performed lymphatic mapping via su

Multimedia spatial distribution and partitioning behavior of liquid crystal monomers in a typical urbanized river system within the Pearl River Delta, South China.

Liquid crystal monomers (LCMs) have been recognized as contaminants of emerging concerns. However, little is known about their occurrence and partitioning behavior in aquatic system. Water and sediment samples were collected in urbanized river systems within the Pearl River Delta (PRD), South China to investigate the spatial distribution and partitioning behavior of LCMs. The concentrations of Σ44LCM in water ranged from 9.5 to 58 ng/L, with an average of 23 ng/L, whereas those of Σ44LCM in sediments ranged from 9.7 to 120 ng/g dry weight (dw), with an average of 55 ng/g dw. Notably, the sedim

Multimedia messages in genetics: design, development, and evaluation of a computer-based instructional resource for secondary school students in a Tay Sachs disease carrier screening program.

PURPOSE: Tay Sachs disease is a recessively inherited neurodegenerative disorder, for which carrier screening programs exist worldwide. Education for those offered a screening test is essential in facilitating informed decision-making. In Melbourne, Australia, we have designed, developed, and evaluated a computer-based instructional resource for use in the Tay Sachs disease carrier screening program for secondary school students attending Jewish schools. The resource entitled "Genetics in the Community: Tay Sachs disease" was designed on a platform of educational learning theory. METHODS: The

Integrating multimedia training and microteaching in school-based oral health promotion: a mixed-methods study among primary school teachers and students in Gorontalo, Indonesia.

BACKGROUND: Oral health is an essential component of overall well-being. Despite ongoing public health education efforts, childhood dental caries remain highly prevalent in Indonesia, particularly in resource-limited school settings. Teachers play a strategic role as change agents in shaping children's oral health knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors; however, their capacity to deliver effective oral health education is often underdeveloped. This study evaluated the impact of multimedia-assisted training and microteaching on teachers' facilitation, and its subsequent effect on students' oral he

From source to sink: Multimedia fate, seasonal drivers, and priority control of synthetic phenolic antioxidants in typical bays of the Bohai Sea and the Yellow Sea, China.

Synthetic phenolic antioxidants (SPAs) are emerging contaminants of concern in coastal environments, yet their multimedia distribution and integrated risks remain insufficiently characterized. We investigated 10 SPAs in seawater, suspended particulate matter (SPM), sediment, and Ruditapes philippinarum at 10 sites in three bays during May and August 2025. Total operationally dissolved concentrations ranged from 948 to 9851 ng/L in May to 19,585-42311 ng/L in August, and the across-site arithmetic mean was 6.35-fold higher in August. Sediment and clam concentrations across both campaigns ranged

Effects of a web application based on multimedia animations to support therapeutic exercise for rotator cuff-related shoulder pain: protocol for an open-label randomised controlled trial.

INTRODUCTION: Rotator cuff-related shoulder pain (RCRSP) is the most common cause of shoulder pain. Currently, exercise is proposed as the first-line treatment for patients suffering from RCRSP. However, adherence to therapeutic exercise programmes can be poor in the long term in a home setting. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of adding video animations to a traditional paper-based exercise programme. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: A single-centre, randomised, open-labelled clinical trial will be conducted in a hospital in Spain. Adults aged between 18 and 80 years diagnosed with RCRS

Determining efficacy of dynamic multimedia bowel preparation instructions versus standard instructions on adenoma detection and patient reported measures (DIGICLEAN trial): a study protocol for a multicentre, colonoscopist-blinded, randomised controlled trial.

INTRODUCTION: Colonoscopy plays important roles in bowel cancer screening and treatment. Poor bowel preparation occurs in 20-25% of colonoscopies. This negatively impacts adenoma and sessile serrated lesion detection rates, procedural time, requirement for repeat colonoscopies, healthcare costs and likelihood of patient withdrawal from screening programmes. It is unclear whether a combination of multimedia modalities can improve bowel preparation quality, adenoma detection rates and patient-reported measures in those undergoing colonoscopy assessment. METHODS: The DIGICLEAN trial is a prospec
