BACKGROUND: Herpes zoster (HZ) and postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) impose a substantial global burden, particularly in older and immunocompromised adults. Western therapies (antivirals, vaccination, and analgesics) reduce viral replication and acute pain but frequently fail to prevent chronic neuropathic pain or fully restore function. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is widely used as an adjunctive treatment in routine practice, yet its integration with Western care remains variably implemented and synthesized.
OBJECTIVE: To provide a clinically oriented narrative synthesis of epidemiology, m

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC) often stops responding to targeted drugs, and those drugs can be toxic. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) works differently: it hits many targets at once and tries to rebalance the whole body. That makes TCM a plausible add-on, not a replacement.
AIM OF THE REVIEW: This review aims to comprehensively summarize and critically appraise the molecular mechanisms by which TCM components and formulas exert anti-RCC activities, focusing on key signaling pathways, non-apoptotic cell death, reversal of drug resistance, and potential

Background/Objectives: Elastic resistance bands are widely used in rehabilitation, injury prevention, and athletic conditioning because they are portable, inexpensive, and adaptable to multiple movement planes. However, their mechanical behavior and training dose are often insufficiently characterized. This structured narrative review aimed to synthesize current evidence on the neuromuscular mechanisms, prescription principles, and functional applications of elastic resistance bands in sports medicine and rehabilitation. Methods: PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and ScienceDirect were searched

There has been increasing debate around how or if race and ethnicity should be used in medical research-including the conceptualization of race as a biological entity, a social construct, or a proxy for racism. The objectives of this narrative review are to identify and synthesize reported racial and ethnic inequalities in obstetrics and gynecology (ob/gyn) and develop informed recommendations for racial and ethnic inequity research in ob/gyn. A reproducible search of the 8 highest impact ob/gyn journals was conducted. Articles published between January 1, 2010 and June 30, 2023 containing key

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a functional gastrointestinal disorder characterized by chronic abdominal pain and alterations in bowel habits, with global prevalence. The etiology of the disease is likely multifactorial; however, autonomic nervous system (ANS) dysfunction and immune-mediated inflammation may contribute the most to the hallmark symptoms of abdominal pain and altered motility of the gut. Current pharmacological therapies operate to modulate intestinal transit, alter the composition of the gut flora and control pain. Non-pharmacological approaches include dietary changes, incr

Gastric cancer remains one of the most common malignant tumors worldwide and is associated with a high disease burden. Its treatment is still challenged by multidrug resistance, an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment, and suboptimal postoperative recovery. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has shown potential in the prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of gastric cancer. Herein, this review aims to discuss the basic theory, clinical practice, technical progress, epidemiological research, controversies and challenges, and future prospects of TCM in gastric cancer treatment. Antimicrobial resistance poses one of the most critical challenges to global health, particularly within veterinary medicine, where antibiotic misuse contributes significantly to multidrug-resistant infections. Bacteriophages have re-emerged as promising biocontrol agents that can target resistant pathogens while preserving host microbiota and environmental balance. However, despite growing experimental evidence, therapeutic implementation remains constrained by heterogeneous methodologies, limited clinical validation, and fragmented regulatory frameworks. This narrative review critically appr

Narrative medicine is an interdisciplinary field that complements and expands on conventional healthcare training by supporting narrative competence skills and creativity derived from the arts and humanities domains to address the needs of healthcare providers and receivers. With the COVID-19 pandemic having had a profound impact on the healthcare workforce with an already high burn-out rate, multimodal arts interventions may help address the holistic dimensions of well-being. While empirical evidence supports the use of arts-based interventions in promoting healthcare workers' well-being and

Hyperthyroidism, characterized by elevated serum thyroxine levels, can be classified into overt and subclinical forms. Untreated hyperthyroidism poses substantial health risks. Antithyroid drugs, radioactive iodine, and surgery are established conventional therapeutic options; however, their clinical application may be limited by relapse, adverse effects, contraindications, or patient preference. This narrative review examines the epidemiology of hyperthyroidism, particularly its association with iodine status, strong genetic predisposition, clinical manifestations predominantly seen in women
