INTRODUCTION: The pancreas is an unusual but occasionally favored target for metastasis from other primary cancers. Metastases have been described for various non-hematologic neoplasms, such as renal-cell carcinoma, pulmonary small-cell carcinoma, melanoma and gastric carcinoma.

Three cases of breast carcinoma are reported in which the capsule of an axillary lymph node contained inclusions of benign-appearing nevus cells. The lesions were exclusively limited to the lymph node capsule without involvement of peripheric sinus or parenchyma. In one case, another lymph node presented a metastasis histologically identical to the primary neoplasm. The differential diagnosis with the carcinomatous metastasis and the possible origin of these inclusions are discussed.

We report a rare case of symptomatic cardiac metastasis from a transitional cell carcinoma of the renal pelvis diagnosed by echocardiography. A 75-year-old patient with a long history of neoplasm since 1999 and coronary artery disease with CABG in 2003, was admitted to our department. He underwent cardiac surgery using cardiopulmonary bypass with tumor excision. Histologically it was the same type of transitional cell neoplasm which was operated seven years before. OBJECTIVE: The present study conducted a meta-analysis to forecast the risk factors associated with level-VII lymph node metastases in case of thyroid neoplasms, intending to assist in determining the requirement for level-VII lymph node lymphadenectomy during the surgery.

A tumor-to-tumor metastasis inside a meningioma is a rare phenomenon. Malignant neoplasms of the breast and lung are the most common primary tumors. We report a case of solitary metastasis of lung carcinoma into the internal auditory canal. On admission, the 60-year-old patient was complaining about a rapidly developing hearing loss with ipsilateral facial nerve paralysis. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed an intracanalicular tumor, which was interpreted as vestibular schwannoma. After tumor resection, the histopathologic examination revealed a metastasis of a squamous cell carcinoma. Computed tomographic scan and bronchoscopy identified an asymptomatic primary pulmonary neoplasm.

The osseous metastasis in our patient's first toe has been the initial clinical manifestation of a pulmonary neoplasm and the clinical picture was that of a gout-attack or an other osteoarticular affection. As a rule, primary supradiaphragmatic neoplasia tend to metastasize to the hands whereas primary infradiaphragmatic neoplasia tends to metastasize to the feet. Our patient, who presented a pulmonary tumor with a metastasis in the right foot, did not fit into this schedule.

This article discusses the gross and microscopic pathology of intracranial neoplasms. Primary intracranial neoplasms include tumors of the brain parenchyma; meninges; and rest of mesenchymal, epithelial, and germ cell derivation. The concept of tumor malignancy for primary central nervous system (CNS) neoplasms is somewhat different from that for systemic tumors. Although the capacity to metastasize is a defining feature of systemic malignancies and metastasis to the brain is a relatively common occurrence, primary CNS neoplasms rarely metastasize outside the CNS.

Papillary carcinoma of thyroid is the most common type of thyroid neoplasm which is usually confined to the thyroid and tends to metastasize to regional lymph nodes. Distant metastasis occur in up to 15% of cases. Thymic metastasis from any malignant carcinoma is extremely rare with only four cases reported in medical literature. We report a case of papillary carcinoma of thyroid metastasizing to ectopic cervical thymus which has not been previously reported.
