BACKGROUND: Delirium is a multifactorial and potentially life-threatening syndrome that remains underdiagnosed and undertreated in nursing homes, despite residents' high vulnerability due to advanced age, multimorbidity and cognitive impairment. To date, little is known how healthcare professionals perceive and manage delirium in these settings, particularly regarding prevention, diagnosis, therapy and interdisciplinary collaboration, as well as differentiation from other neurodegenerative diseases. This study explores the perspectives of nurses and general practitioners (GPs) on the quality o

OBJECTIVE: The objective of this scoping review will be to chart the evidence in relation to the provision of care by nurse practitioners in virtual health care clinics.
INTRODUCTION: The COVID-19 pandemic prompted health care systems, providers, and patients to rapidly shift to virtual care settings. Four years later, virtual care continues to be a focal point of health care delivery with the ensuing spread of both hybrid models (ie, a blend of in-person and virtual care) and virtual clinics (ie, virtual-only service delivery platforms with built-in electronic medical records). Nurse practit

Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a clinically heterogeneous form of progressive inflammatory arthritis that affects up to 30% of patients with psoriasis. The rapid rate of progression associated with PsA makes early-disease diagnosis and treatment crucial to patients' quality of life and long-term health. With the aim of providing clinical guidance to physician assistants and nurse practitioners, this article gives an overview of the different PsA clinical domains, including peripheral arthritis, axial disease, enthesitis, dactylitis, skin disease, and nail dystrophy, which should be considered as

BACKGROUND: The nursing shortage continues to grow and is expected to intensify in the near future. Health care organizations need to implement strategic ways to support nurses. First-year new graduate nurses have a high turnover rate. It is critical to have educational support on the night shift, where most new nurses begin their careers.
OBJECTIVE: The study aimed to gain insight into how nursing professional development (NPD) practitioners or nursing educators who work the night shift perceive their roles and explore their experiences. Limited literature exists on having NPD on the night s

In 2021, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved Loreev XR®, a long-acting formulation of lorazepam, raising important clinical considerations for nurse practitioners (NPs) who routinely manage anxiety, insomnia, and stress-related conditions. Despite well-established risks, including dependence, withdrawal, cognitive impairment, and heightened danger when combined with central nervous system depressants, benzodiazepines (BZDs) remain widely prescribed in the United States. The current article examines the rationale for introducing a new extended-release BZD, the pharmacokinetic and pha

The Annie Goodrich Post-Graduate Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NP) Fellowship, established in 2017, supports advanced practice nurses transitioning into independent psychiatric roles by emphasizing excellence in care and education. Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNP-BC) often enter practice with limited experience managing complex psychopharmacologic regimens, creating a critical gap in competency. To address this need, we developed a specialized psychopharmacology curriculum designed to strengthen foundational knowledge and promote confident, evidence-informed clinical dec
