Descriptors have been determined for four inorganic mercury(II) species and for seventeen organic mercury(II) species, using experimental literature data. These descriptors can then be used in equations that we have already set out in order to estimate a large number of physicochemical properties. These include the water to octanol partition coefficient and the gas to water partition coefficient. For the organic mercury(II) species, including dimethylmercury and the methylmercury(II) halides, the latter has been estimated over the temperature range 273-373 K.

The absorption of unbranched aliphatic alcohols in the rabbit vagina was studied using a perfusion method, and the absorption rates were found to be first order with respect to the drug concentration in the vagina from methanol to octanol. Using a polarographic method, we studied the inhibition of mitochondrial electron transport at the cytochrome c oxidase site caused by eight local anaesthetics. The interaction of a series of eight local anaesthetics with cytochrome oxidase chosen as a membrane model protein has been studied with fluorescence technique using quinacrine as a fluorescent probe. The existence of hydrophobic interactions with a non polar region of cytochrome oxidase complex has been shown.
