A full-thickness fistula of the hard palate can be closed by various methods. Recurrences are seen many times and more stable methods of closure have been researched. The authors attempted to close a palatal fistula by adhering to the main rule of reconstruction as stated by Gillies, "replace the lost tissues in kind." They used a buccinator musculomucosal transposition flap for the nasal lining, a cranial bone graft for the palatal bone, and a local mucoperiosteal transposition flap for the oral closure. BACKGROUND: The development of an oronasal fistula after primary cleft palate repair has a wide variation reported in the literature. The aim of this review is to identify the reported oronasal fistula incidence to provide a benchmark for surgical practice.

A 49-year-old diabetic woman developed polymicrobial anaerobic meningitis secondary to a meningorectal fistula one year after receiving neutron beam therapy for a rectal adenocarcinoma. The meningitis was refractory to chloramphenicol and penicillin but responded to oral metronidazole. A case of herniation of the antral membrane through a recent extraction site is presented. The lesion was initially diagnosed as a tumor by the referring dentist. Oroantral fistulas are not an uncommon finding after dental extractions. It is rare, however, to see herniation of the antral membrane with large polyps extending through the fistula into the oral cavity. A search of the literature revealed only two other such cases. Surgical removal of the polyps and closure of the oroantral fistula by means of a buccal sliding flap technique is discussed.

Intestinal neobladder fistula is one of the rare complications following radical cystectomy which is described in about 1.5-2% of all patients.
