Accurate monitoring of nitroimidazole antibiotics (NDZs) in environmental and food matrices is critical for safeguarding public health and food safety. In this study, a novel sulfonic acid-functionalized hyper-cross-linked polymer (NDF-TPE-HCP) was synthesized via Friedel-Crafts alkylation reaction. We report the history of a 43-year-old man with a histopathologically confirmed invasive amebic abscess in his right hip. CT scan of the liver was normal. The amebic indirect hemagglutination (IHA) test was positive with a titer of 1/1,024. The patient developed acute renal failure and died within 48 h of admission with multiple organ failure due to sepsis.
