Radiolabelled Sch 13835, an inhibitor of platelet derived growth factor, was prepared by catalytic hydrogenolysis of a benzyl bromide precursor with tritium gas. Cyclic imides are a large class of compounds obtained by organic synthesis including several sub-classes (succinimides maleimide, glutarimide, phthalimides naphtalimides, and its derivatives). Recently, some cyclic imide derivatives have shown important results as potential antitumor agents, as a Mitonafide and Amonafide. In this study, we describe a synthetic method for incorporating arenes into closed tubes that we name capsularenes. First, we prepared vase-shaped molecular baskets 4-7. Between 1980 and 1985, 354 composite vegetable samples representing 9 vegetable commodities were collected from farm deliveries to the market place in Ontario, Canada. All samples were analyzed for insecticides, 275 for fungicides, and 135 for herbicides. This study reports the synthesis and photophysical analysis of three isomeric compounds, namely 3Fmo, 3Fmm, and 3Fmp, which were engineered using carbazole as the electron donor, phthalimide as the electron acceptor, and a benzene ring as the bridging moiety. Nonsense mutations introduce premature termination codons and underlie 11% of genetic disease cases. High concentrations of aminoglycosides can restore gene function by eliciting premature termination codon readthrough but with low efficiency. Using a high-throughput screen, we identified compounds that potentiate readthrough by aminoglycosides at multiple nonsense alleles in yeast. Polymer films of poly(vinyl alcohol) containing the fluorescent dyes 4-aminophthalimide (AP) or 6-propionyl-2-dimethylamino-naphthalene (Prodan) are used as temperature-sensitive fluorescent coatings for remote temperature sensing. Temperature can be obtained by a two-wavelength ratiometric-based emission intensity measurement. The coatings are sensitive in a 100K temperature range that can be tuned by polymer-solute interactions. The usable range is 200-300 K for AP and 280-380 K for Prodan.
