A total of 24 patients with urothelial cancer were treated with a combination chemotherapy consisting of vincristine (1 mg, i.v., day 1), bleomycin (15 mg, or peplomycin, 10 mg, i.m. day 2), mitomycin-C (4 mg, i.v. day 3), tegafur (600-750 mg, p.o., every day) and OK-432 (2-4 KE, i.m., day 1, 3, 5). Intraperitoneal and pleural immunotherapy has been used as an effective therapy for malignancy. Recently we treated two patients with peritonitis and pleuritis due to cancer by intraperitoneal and pleural administration of IFN-gamma, OK-432 and antitumor agents. INTRODUCTION: Metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) has a poor prognosis. This study evaluated the safety, immune responses, and clinical outcomes of Wilms' tumor 1 (WT1) peptide-loaded dendritic cell (DC) vaccination combined with hormone or chemotherapeutic agents in mCRPC patients.
METHODS: WT1 peptide-loaded mature DCs were administered intradermally and the adjuvant OK-432 every 2-4 weeks. WT1-specific immune responses were assayed using ELISpot, HLA-tetramer, and CD107a assays.

The case of recurrent intraabdominal neurenteric cyst after surgical excision in an infant is described. After several operative resections, we changed therapeutic strategy and performed local injection of OK-432. Indeed, there is experience with the application of OK-432 for other entities, especially lymphangioma, but to our knowledge, there is no report published so far on the treatment of neurenteric cyst with OK-432. We describe for the first time an effective and simple treatment of recurrent neurenteric cyst.

BACKGROUND: Sclerotherapy with OK-432 is recommended as a first-line treatment for lymphatic malformations. However, 40% of patients show poor response, defined by involution to <50% of the original size. A cytotoxic factor (peritoneal cytotoxic factor, PCF) was strongly induced by the injection of LPS into the peritoneal fluids of mice which had been previously primed with OK-432.
