Uptake and Short-Term Retention in HIV Treatment Among Men in South Africa: The Coach Mpilo Pilot Project.

INTRODUCTION: Gender disparities persist across the HIV care continuum in sub-Saharan Africa. Men are tested, linked, and retained at lower rates than women. Men experience more treatment interruptions, resulting in higher rates of virological failure and increased mortality. Peer support is an approach to improving men's engagement and retention in HIV treatment. We assessed uptake and early retention in HIV care among men in the 'Coach Mpilo' peer support pilot project in South Africa. METHODS: We conducted a pilot project from March 2020 to September 2020 in 3 districts: Ehlanzeni and Gert

Electronic medical record alert increases HIV screening rates: the Foch hospital pilot POP-up project.

BACKGROUND: Despite significant national human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) screening activity, there are persistent delays in screening, and many missed diagnostic opportunities. To facilitate targeted screening, an electronic medical record (EMR) alert reminder was applied in the Foch hospital. Screening rates after implementation were reported. METHODS: A prospective cohort analysis was performed in Foch Hospital between 24 April 2018 and 4 October 2019 among hospitalized patients born in high HIV prevalence countries and/or having social vulnerability criteria (universal health coverage).

Retrospective quantification of background incidence and stage distribution of breast cancer for the mammography screening pilot project in Wiesbaden, Germany.

Several parameters for quality assurance of mammography screening require background incidence rates, i.e. the breast cancer incidence in the absence of screening. For new programmes, incidence rates for the years prior to the programme are usually taken as a substitute with the appropriate source being cancer registries. In Germany, the feasibility of quality-assured screening was examined in three pilot projects over the years 2001-2005, so that background incidence was needed for quality assurance. Since countrywide cancer registration was not yet well established and especially in the pilo

The pregnant body project pilot RCT protocol: Preventing disordered eating behaviors in high-risk pregnant individuals.

INTRODUCTION: Pregnancy and the postpartum (i.e., the perinatal period) can be a trigger for body dissatisfaction and disordered eating. Little is known about effective approaches to mitigate this increased risk and reduce the potential negative impact on perinatal individuals and their offspring. To begin addressing this need, we are testing the feasibility of an adapted evidence-based eating disorder prevention program for pregnant individuals with a history of disordered eating. The purpose of this paper is to describe the protocol of a unique pilot randomized controlled trial (RCT). METHO

Strategies to resolve the gap in adolescent tuberculosis care at four health facilities in Uganda: The teenager's TB pilot project.

In 2021, an estimated 10.6 million people fell ill with tuberculosis (TB) globally and 11.3% were children. About 40% of children aged five to fourteen years with TB are missed annually. In Uganda, 44% of adolescents with chronic cough of more than two weeks do not seek care from health facilities. Therefore, strategies to promote health care-seeking behaviour among adolescents were urgently needed to resolve the gap. In regard to this, the research project utilized a before and after design, in which the number of adolescents (10-19years) enrolled in the project health facilities were compare
