Advancements in sperm selection and assessment: traditional to cutting-edge methods in assisted reproductive techniques - a narrative review.

Infertility affects approximately 15% of couples globally, with male factors contributing to 20-70% of cases. These issues often stem from low sperm concentration, abnormal morphology, or poor motility, highlighting the critical importance of sperm selection in both natural and assisted reproduction. The quality of selected spermatozoa impacts not only fertilization success but also the health of future offspring. Despite the advances in in vitro fertilization, no universally accepted method exists for selecting and assessing spermatozoa based on morphology, motility, and DNA quality. Over the

Ensemble machine learning models for sperm quality evaluation concerning success rate of clinical pregnancy in assisted reproductive techniques.

This study aimed to investigate the influence of various sperm quality characteristics, including morphology, motility, and count, on the success rates of clinical pregnancy achieved through assisted reproductive technologies (ART) such as in-vitro fertilization (IVF), intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), and intrauterine insemination (IUI). The secondary objective was to assess the impact of these sperm parameters on the clinical pregnancy rate that resulted in the detection of a fetal heartbeat during the 11th week of gestation, a crucial milestone in successful ART-derived pregnancies.

Exposure to multiple toxic metals and the risk of early embryonic arrest among women undergoing assisted reproductive techniques.

BACKGROUND: Early embryonic arrest is a great challenge for in vitro fertilization. Whether exposure to toxic metals is associated with an increased risk of early embryonic arrest warrants investigation. OBJECTIVES: Here, we conducted a case-control study in infertile women to estimate the associations between blood barium (Ba), arsenic (As), mercury (Hg), and lead (Pb) exposure levels and the risk of early embryonic arrest. METHODS: Ba, As, Hg, and Pb exposure levels in fasting blood collected from 74 infertile women (123 cycles) with early embryonic arrest and 157 infertile women (180 cycl
