BACKGROUND: Pathological tooth wear is becoming an increasingly serious societal issue. Occasionally, occlusal veneers can stand in for more conventional prosthetic restorations like crowns, inlays, or onlays. Thus, this study aimed to assess the fracture resistance of resin-based ceramic ultra-thin occlusal veneers made by milling and 3D printing, cemented using various luting techniques, following thermomechanical cyclic loading.
METHODS: The study utilized milled resin-based ceramic (Cerasmart®) and 3D printed resin-based ceramic (VarseoSmile Crown plus A3). Sixty specimens were manufactur

In vitro tensile bond strengths were determined for three adhesive cements and two resin-bonded bridge cements to two alloys, each prepared by two methods: sandblasted Ni-Cr-Be alloy (I), electro-etched Ni-Cr-Be alloy (II), sandblasted Type IV gold alloy (III), and tin-plated Type IV gold alloy (IV). Storage conditions of 24 hours at 37 degrees C and 30 days at 70 degrees C were evaluated. The highest bond strengths were obtained for the electro-etched Ni-Cr-Be alloy, and all bond failures were cohesive. At both 24 hours and 30 days, the adhesive cements had the highest bond strengths to the o

BACKGROUND: Nanosilver fluoride (NSF) has emerged as a promising alternative to silver diamine fluoride (SDF), addressing its major drawback of tooth discoloration. Incorporating silver nanoparticles, NSF retains the advantageous preventive, antimicrobial and remineralizing characteristics of SDF without causing staining. This study aimed to investigate the effect of nanosilver fluoride versus silver diamine fluoride pretreatment on shear bond strength and color of resin-modified glass-ionomer cement (RMGIC) to caries-affected dentin and the impact of thermocycling on shear bond strength. INTRODUCTION: Silver-modified atraumatic restorative therapy (SMART) is the silver diamine fluoride (SDF) treatment followed by glass ionomer cement (GIC) restoration to help arrest the progression of the caries without requiring local anesthesia and cavity preparation. There is no comparison in the literature regarding the microleakage and potential of secondary caries with the aforementioned approach. Also, recently, a new formulation of SDF, that is, SDF gel, is available in the market, which could be a better material due to its ease of application and control over area of application.
