A 21-year old african women presented with primary sterility in the outpatient department of our university hospital. Screening examinations, including ultrasound, demonstrated a tumour of 5.8 x 4.1 cm diameter on the left ovary. Persistent trophoblast after salpingostomy occurs in up to 7% of cases of tubal pregnancy. Usually the retained trophoblast is within the fallopian tube, but recent reports have described viable implants on the serosal and omental surfaces. A survey was mailed to 100 members of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists to determine the incidence of the complication. The 25 respondents reported 14 cases of persistent trophoblast implanted on the pelvic serosal or omental surface. This complication followed 1.9% of the cases managed with laparoscopy and 0.6% managed with laparotomy.

Extratubal secondary trophoblastic implants (ESTI) are a rare complication of conservative laparoscopic procedures for tubal ectopic pregnancies. BACKGROUND: Simultaneous or concomitant bilateral adnexal pathology is rare. But simultaneous tubal pregnancy and twisted ovarian cyst is even rarer.
CASE: A 25-year-old woman, gravida 2, parity 0, presented with acute abdomen after 12 weeks of amenorrhea. Simultaneous right tubal pregnancy and twisted left ovarian cyst were intraoperatively diagnosed. Right salpingostomy and left salpingo-oophorectomy were performed. In the sub-Saharan African setting, laparotomy for salpingectomy is the common method of treatment for ectopic pregnancy (EP). The objective of this retrospective study was to find out how common EP is treated conservatively in the Yaounde Gynaeco-Obstetric and Paediatric Hospital, Cameroon.
