This work tested the role of carbamazepine in alleviating alloxan-induced diabetic neuropathy and the enhancement of spinal plasticity. We present a case of sciatic neuropathy after operation in the sitting position. Sciatic nerve palsy as a complication of the sitting position appears to be extremely rare. The patient we describe was a short, plump woman. To attain optimal surgical exposure, a greater flexion of the hips than usual was utilized. That may explain the possible stretch injury of the sciatic nerve.

Recently, we reported that human peripheral blood (PB)-derived CD31(+) cells are highly angiogenic. In this study, we investigated the beneficial effects of CD31(+) cells on peripheral neuropathy in mice. CD31(+) cells were collected from the peripheral blood using magnetic activated cell sorting. PURPOSE: Sciatic neuropathy is a rare but serious complication of cardiac surgery. Neuropathic pain following nerve injury can be severely debilitating and largely resistant to treatment.
