In silico screening and molecular analyses identify apigenin from Scutellaria barbata as a potent AKT1 inhibitor in breast cancer.

Breast cancer (BC) remains a leading cause of cancer-related mortality in women worldwide. Scutellaria barbata, a traditional Chinese medicinal herb, possesses recognized anticancer properties, but its mechanistic role in BC is not fully elucidated. This study employed an integrated in silico approach to identify the key flavonoids, targets, and pathways through which S. barbata exerts its anti-BC effects. A multi-step computational methodology incorporating network pharmacology, molecular docking, and dynamics simulations was utilized to profile bioactive compounds from S. barbata. From an in

A streamlined one-pot process for the continuous extraction, biotransformation, and cyclodextrin encapsulation of bioavailable baicalein from Scutellaria baicalensis.

BACKGROUND: In plants, flavonoids predominantly exist as glycosides, which exhibit high polarity and low lipid solubility, thereby limiting their absorption across the intestinal mucosa. Baicalin (Bi), a glycoside, and its aglycone baicalein (Ba), derived from Scutellaria baicalensis, serve as representative examples of this bioavailability challenge. PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to develop a green, one-pot strategy integrating ultra-high pressure (UHP)-assisted hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin (HP-β-CD) extraction with endogenous enzyme-mediated in situ biotransformation and HP-β-CD inclus

Promotion of a quality standard for Scutellariae radix based on the anti-inflammatory efficacy-oriented quality marker of the effect-constituent index.

The quality control of herbal medicines is key to their clinical efficacy. The multi-component and multi-effect characteristics of herbal medicines have prompted scholars to clarify various factors related to quality evaluation through various methods. Nevertheless, the relationship between chemical properties and their associated clinical efficacy is little reflected in the quality control techniques currently in use. To address the issue, a novel herbal quality standard system based on the efficacy-oriented Q-marker of the effect-constituent index (ECI) is promoted in this study, using Scute
