The Copenhagen Soccer Test: physiological response and fatigue development.

INTRODUCTION: The aims of the study were 1) to evaluate whether a multifaceted simulated soccer game protocol, entitled the Copenhagen Soccer Test (CST), elicited a similar physiological loading as a competitive game (CG) and 2) to determine muscle metabolites, blood variables, and sprint performance in various phases of CST. METHODS: Twelve Danish Second- and Third-Division soccer players participated in the study. On separate days, HR measurements, frequent blood sampling, and physical/technical tests were performed during 60- and 90-min versions of the CST during which repeated musculus va

Femoroacetabular impingement in former high-level youth soccer players.

BACKGROUND: Femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) can be a source of hip pain in young adults. Repetitive kicking associated with youth soccer may lead to morphologic changes of the proximal femur that predispose a person to the development of FAI. HYPOTHESIS: Young adults who participated in high-level soccer competition as youths are more likely to demonstrate radiographic changes consistent with FAI and to have increased alpha angles as compared with controls. STUDY DESIGN: Cross-sectional study; Level of evidence, 3. METHODS: Pelvic radiographs (anteroposterior and frog-lateral) were obtai

Learning vision-driven reactive soccer skills for humanoid robots.

Humanoid soccer poses a representative challenge for embodied intelligence, requiring robots to coordinate agile locomotion with unreliable visual perception in dynamic environments. However, existing systems typically rely on modular pipelines that separate perception from control or assume ideal sensing, making it difficult to achieve coherent and reactive behavior under real-world perceptual limitations. In this work, we present a unified reinforcement learning-based controller that enables humanoid robots to learn vision-driven reactive soccer skills by directly coupling visual perception

DeCon-Net: decoupled hierarchical contrast for soccer object detection.

Soccer video analysis has significant application value in sports broadcasting, tactical research, and athlete training, with accurate object detection serving as the key foundation for automated analysis. Soccer object detection typically improves performance through enhanced feature representation and optimized network architectures, but these methods assume that models can automatically learn discriminative features of targets. Through experiments, we reveal the "feature collapse" phenomenon in soccer detection, where features of players from the same team are excessively clustered in high-

ViewAdapt-Det: view-adaptive detection for soccer broadcasting videos.

Object detection in soccer videos plays an important role in intelligent broadcasting, tactical analysis, and player tracking. Frequent view switching driven by multi-camera coordination in soccer broadcasts introduces two distinct challenges for existing detection methods. First, in the temporal dimension, shot transitions cause abrupt visual changes between adjacent frames. Existing temporal aggregation methods forcibly fuse features from heterogeneous views, injecting cross-view noise that can degrade detection accuracy below single-frame baselines. Second, in the feature dimension, target

Changes in circulating microRNAs following head impacts in soccer.

AIM: To explore the short-term effects of accidental head impacts and repetitive headers on circulating microRNAs, accounting for the effects of high-intensity exercise alone. METHODS: Blood samples were collected from professional soccer players at rest. Repeat samples were drawn 1 h and 12 h after three conditions: (1) accidental head impacts in a match, (2) repetitive headers during training, and (3) high-intensity exercise. 89 samples were screened to detect microRNAs expressed after each exposure. Identified microRNAs were then validated in 98 samples to determine consistently deregulate

PELVIC INCIDENCE AND OSTEITIS PUBIS IN PROFESSIONAL SOCCER PLAYERS.

INTRODUCTION: Osteitis pubis is a common inflammatory disease of the pubic symphysis, defined as a chronic pain syndrome caused by repetitive microtrauma. Since adaptative changes are necessary in the pelvis to adjust the equilibrium of the myotendinous structures, the aim of this study was to evaluate the correlation between pelvic incidence and osteitis pubis among professional soccer players. MATERIALS AND METHODS: An observational, cross-sectional study was performed with professional soccer players from five teams during pre-season. Athletes with previous congenital pelvic abnormalities

Impact of Sports-Related Subconcussive Injuries in Soccer Players.

Sports-related subconcussive impacts to the head are receiving increased interest. Recent evidence indicates that subconcussive impacts will have greater relevance across time because of the number of repetitive impacts. Soccer players are at risk of receiving at least one impact during a soccer game. The authors review the cognitive-communication functioning following subconcussive head injuries in youth and recommendations for baseline assessments and cognitive-communication dysfunctions after subconcussive impacts in youth. The review is followed by a description and discussion of a study t

Naviculocuneiform Coalition: Case Reports of Two Sibling Soccer Players.

Tarsal coalitions are an abnormal union between 2 tarsal bones. They occur most commonly between the calcaneus and talus or the calcaneus and navicular but can also arise from other joints in the foot. Isolated cases of coalitions between the medial cuneiform and navicular are extremely rare, and only a few cases have been reported. Treatment recommendations are, therefore, sparse, and no long-term follow-up data have been reported. We present the case of 2 sisters, each diagnosed with a symptomatic naviculocuneiform coalition. To our knowledge, this is the first reported case in 2 first-degre
