Superconductivity in the Repulsive Hubbard Model on Different Geometries Induced by Density-Assisted Hopping.

We study the effect of density-assisted hopping on different dimerized lattice geometries, such as bilayers and ladder structures. We show analytically that the density-assisted hopping induces an attractive interaction in the lower (bonding) band of the dimer structure and a repulsion in the upper (antibonding) band. Overcoming the on-site repulsion, this can lead to the appearance of superconductivity with a pairing structure more complex than s-wave pairing. Combining numerical and analytical methods such as the matrix product states ansatz, bosonization, and perturbative calculations, we m

Electron-phonon interaction and superconductivity in the silicon-boron-carbon monolayers with high stability.

Recently, considerable attention has been given to the exploration of superconductivity in low-dimensional materials. By employing unbiased structure search and first-principles calculations, we systematically investigate the structural and electronic properties of the predicted two-dimensional (2D) compounds SiBC4, SiBC6, and SiB4C in the monolayer limit. These structures demonstrate high thermal stability at 1,500 K and meet the criteria for mechanical and dynamic stability. Most importantly, they are identified as intrinsic superconductors with superconducting transition temperatures (T c )

Observation of superconductivity and enhanced upper critical field of η-carbide-type oxide Zr4Pd2O.

We report the first observation of bulk superconductivity of a η-carbide-type oxide Zr4Pd2O. The crystal structure and the superconducting properties were studied through synchrotron X-ray diffraction, magnetization, electrical resistivity, and specific heat measurement. The superconducting transition was observed at Tc = 2.73 K. Our measurement revealed that the η-carbide-type oxide superconductor Zr4Pd2O shows an enhanced upper critical field μ0Hc2(0) = 6.72 T, which violates the Pauli-Clogston limit μ0HP = 5.29 T. On the other hand, we found that the enhanced upper critical field is absent

Cryogenic Dielectric Metasurface-Integrated Superconducting Nanowire Single-Photon Detectors.

Over the past decade, multielement superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors (SNSPDs) have emerged as the leading single-photon detection technology due to their exceptional system detection efficiency (SDE), ultrahigh timing precision, and negligible dark counts. However, achieving these performances with a single-element SNSPD has been an outstanding challenge due to a fundamental trade-off: A large active area is necessary for high SDE, whereas a smaller area is crucial for higher photon count rates, lower dark counts, and lower jitter. Here, we introduce a dielectric cryogenic metal

Heteroatomic Andreev Molecule in a Superconducting Island-Double Quantum Dot Hybrid.

Topological superconductors (SCs) hold great promise for fault-tolerant quantum hardware; however, their experimental realization is very challenging. Recently, superconducting artificial molecules (Andreev molecules) have opened new avenues to engineer topological superconducting materials. In this work, we demonstrate a heteroatomic Andreev molecule, where two normal artificial atoms realized by quantum dots (QDs) are coupled by a superconducting island (SCI). We show that the two normal atoms hybridize and form a three-electron-based molecular state. Our density matrix renormalization group

Superconducting coherence boosted by outer-layer metallic screening in multilayered cuprates.

In multilayered high-Tc cuprates, the inner CuO2 planes (IPs) are spatially separated from dopant layers and thus remain cleaner than the outer planes (OPs). Here, we investigate five-layer (Cu,C)Ba2Ca4Cu5Oy (Cu1245) and three-layer Ba2Ca2Cu3O6(F,O)2 (F0223) using angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) and uncover an unprecedented situation, in which only the IPs become superconducting while the OPs remain metallic at low temperatures. Our model calculations indicate that over 95% of the OP wavefunction remains confined to OP itself, rendering superconducting proximity negligible. T

Van der Waals superconducting electronics: materials, devices and circuit integration.

Van der Waals (vdW) superconductors -atomically thin crystalline materials that can be stacked into more complex heterostructures -have opened a promising avenue for superconducting electronics thanks to their properties that are otherwise difficult to obtain in other superconducting materials. These include strong resilience to high in-plane fields, electrostatic tuneability, and non-reciprocal transport rooted in inversionsymmetry breaking and strong spin-orbit coupling. In addition to highlighting the importance of these properties for superconducting electronics, this review gives an overv

Universal Spin Superconducting Diode Effect from Spin-Orbit Coupling.

We propose a universal spin superconducting diode effect (SDE) induced by spin-orbit coupling (SOC) in systems with spin-triplet correlations, where the critical spin supercurrents in opposite directions are unequal. By analysis from both the Ginzburg-Landau theory and energy band analysis, we show that the spin-↑↑ and spin-↓↓ Cooper pairs possess opposite phase gradients and opposite momenta from the SOC, which leads to the spin SDE. Two superconductors with SOC, a p-wave superconductor as a toy model and a practical superconducting nanowire, are numerically studied and they both exhibit spin

Deterministic quantum state and gate teleportation between distant superconducting chips.

Quantum teleportation is of both fundamental interest and great practical importance in quantum information science. To date, quantum teleportation has been implemented in various physical systems, among which superconducting qubits are of particular practical significance as they emerge as a leading system to realize large-scale quantum computation. Nevertheless, scaling up the number of superconducting qubits on a single chip becomes increasing challenging because of some emergent technical difficulties. Realization of quantum teleportation and remote computation over qubits on distant super

Revealing the Hidden Spin-Polarized Bands in a Superconducting Tl Bilayer Crystal.

The interplay of spin-orbit coupling and crystal symmetry can generate spin-polarized bands in materials only a few atomic layers thick, potentially leading to unprecedented physical properties. In the case of bilayer materials with global inversion symmetry, locally broken inversion symmetry can generate degenerate spin-polarized bands, in which the spins in each layer are oppositely polarized. Here, we demonstrate that the hidden spins in a Tl bilayer crystal are revealed by growing it on Ag(111) of sizable lattice mismatch, together with the appearance of a remarkable phenomenon unique to c

Cometal Addition Effect on Superconducting Properties and Granular Behaviours of Polycrystalline FeSe0.5Te0.5.

The enhanced performance of superconducting FeSe0.5Te0.5 materials with added micro-sized Pb and Sn particles is presented. A series of Pb- and Sn-added FeSe0.5Te0.5 (FeSe0.5Te0.5 + xPb + ySn; x = y = 0-0.1) bulks are fabricated by the solid-state reaction method and characterized through various measurements. A very small amount of Sn and Pb additions (x = y ≤ 0.02) enhance the transition temperature (Tconset) of pure FeSe0.5Te0.5 by ~1 K, sharpening the superconducting transition and improving the metallic nature in the normal state, whereas larger metal additions (x = y ≥ 0.03) reduce Tcons

Unveiling the Superconducting Mechanism of Ba_{0.51}K_{0.49}BiO_{3}.

The mechanism of high superconducting transition temperatures (T_{c}) in bismuthates remains under debate despite more than 30 years of extensive research. Our angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy studies on Ba_{0.51}K_{0.49}BiO_{3} reveal an unexpectedly 34% larger bandwidth than in conventional density functional theory calculations. This can be reproduced by calculations that fully account for long-range Coulomb interactions-the first direct demonstration of bandwidth expansion due to the Fock exchange term, a long-accepted and yet uncorroborated fundamental effect in many body physics

Superconducting Grid-Bus Surface Code Architecture for Hole-Spin Qubits.

We present a scalable hybrid architecture for the 2D surface code combining superconducting resonators and hole-spin qubits in nanowires with tunable direct Rashba spin-orbit coupling. The backbone of this architecture is a square lattice of capacitively coupled coplanar waveguide resonators each of which hosts a nanowire hole-spin qubit. Both the frequency of the qubits and their coupling to the microwave field are tunable by a static electric field applied via the resonator center pin. In the dispersive regime, an entangling two-qubit gate can be realized via a third order process, whereby a

Proposal of a vertically polarized superconducting multipole wiggler using Nb3Sn coils.

We propose a vertically polarized superconducting multipole wiggler (V-SC-MPW) that enables the use of vertically polarized hard X-rays with minimal impact on beam quality. Vertical polarization facilitates unique experimental setups by allowing horizontal arrangement of optical equipment, which is difficult to realize with horizontally polarized X-rays. However, significant emittance growth has prevented the adoption of such vertically polarized, high-field devices in third-generation light sources. To address this challenge, the V-SC-MPW employs a short-period design. By utilizing Nb3Sn supe

Two-Dimensional Superconducting Diode Effect in Topological Insulator/Superconductor Heterostructure.

The superconducting diode effect (SDE) is characterized by the nonreciprocity of Cooper-pair motion with respect to current direction. In three-dimensional (3D) materials, SDE results in a critical current that varies with direction, making the effect distinctly observable: the material exhibits superconductivity in one direction while behaving as a resistive metal in the opposite direction. However, in genuinely two-dimensional (2D) materials, the critical current density is theoretically zero, leaving the manifestation of SDE in the 2D limit an intriguing challenge. Here, we present the obse

Noise Variation Characteristics of the Superconducting Gravimeter at Jiufeng Station in Wuhan (China).

The noise level of gravity stations is an important indicator for measuring the operating status of a station and is a prerequisite for evaluating whether the station's observations can be used to extract weak geodynamic signals. With the continuous expansion of areas of human activity, gravity stations originally located in the wild may become increasingly closer to cities. Whether their noise levels change is an important issue that is worthy of attention. Based on power spectrum analyses and probability density function methods, the noise level of the superconducting gravimeter (SG) at Jiuf

High resistance of superconducting TiN thin films against environmental attacks.

Superconductors, an essential class of functional materials, hold a vital position in both fundamental science and practical applications. However, most superconductors, including MgB2, Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ, and FeSe, are highly sensitive to environmental attacks (such as from water and moist air), hindering their wide applications. More importantly, the surface physical and chemical processes of most superconductors in various environments remain poorly understood. Here, we comprehensively investigate the high resistance of superconducting titanium nitride (TiN) epitaxial films against acid and al

Gate-tunable superconducting diode effect in a three-terminal Josephson device.

The phenomenon of non-reciprocal critical current in a Josephson device, termed the Josephson diode effect, has garnered much recent interest. Realization of the diode effect requires inversion symmetry breaking, typically obtained by spin-orbit interactions. Here we report observation of the Josephson diode effect in a three-terminal Josephson device based upon an InAs quantum well two-dimensional electron gas proximitized by an epitaxial aluminum superconducting layer. We demonstrate that the diode efficiency in our devices can be tuned by a small out-of-plane magnetic field or by electrosta
