STATEMENT OF PROBLEM: Restoring endodontically treated teeth with indirect partial ceramic restorations poses biomechanical challenges associated with the compromised tooth structure, and the potential role of fiber reinforcement in improving fracture resistance remains unclear.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to determine whether reinforcing the endodontically treated tooth structures with fiber ribbons or short fiber-reinforced resin composites (SFRCs) increases the fracture resistance of indirect partial ceramic restorations.

OBJECTIVE: Despite the increased popularity of endocrowns, there is no clear consensus considering their effectiveness to restore severely-destructed endodontically treated premolars. This study aimed to assess the biomechanical behavior of endodontically treated maxillary first premolars restored with a novel endocrown system compared to the conventional one.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Twenty sound human maxillary first premolars were collected. After endodontic treatment, they were divided into 2 groups (n=10) according to the system used for endocrown fabrication. Group C (Control): convention

AIM: To simulate in a laboratory setting longitudinal cracking in root filled premolar teeth, using cyclic mechanical fatigue.
METHODOLOGY: Mesial-occlusal-distal (MOD) cavities were prepared in twenty root filled, single-rooted, mandibular premolars restored with fibre posts and resin composites. The samples were randomly divided into two groups based on the loading approaches: static loading with a crosshead speed of 0.5 mm/min and step-stress cyclic loading (1 Hz) with increasing amplitude. The loads and numbers of cycles to failure were recorded. Micro-CT was also used to identify the fra

Primary teeth and the permanent successors must be understood as interdependent units, where each one of them interacts with and depends on each other. Pulpal inflammation/infection of a primary tooth and the spread of this condition over the periradicular tissues can lead to alterations in the dental germ of the permanent successor and to the surrounding structures if no therapy is done, i.e. endodontics or extraction. This work will present cases of permanent teeth that showed alteration in eruption and / or in development, as a consequence of inflammation / infection of the preceding primar

Vertical root fractures in endodontically treated teeth occur frequently in teeth or roots in which their mesiodistal dimension is narrow, such as the maxillary upper premolars. Two cases of vertical root fractures in two adjacent maxillary reconstructed teeth are presented. As in many cases of vertical root fractures, the primary diagnosis was of endodontic treatment failure. The final diagnosis of the fractures was made either by the radiograph showing separation of root segments in one case, or by surgical exploration in the other. In both cases, tooth extraction was unavoidable.

Intra-coronal bleaching of root-filled teeth has been associated with invasive cervical root resorption. It is considered that during bleaching hydrogen peroxide diffuses through the tooth structure into the cervical periodontium, resulting in periodontal tissue destruction and initiating a resorptive process. Hydrogen peroxide is capable of generating hydroxyl radical, an oxygen-derived free radical, in the presence of ferrous salts. Hydroxyl radicals are extremely reactive and have been shown to degrade components of connective tissue, particularly collagen and hyaluronic acid. The aim of th

Literature review There is a paucity of information on the concise relationship between endodontics and orthodontics during treatment planning decisions. This relationship ranges from effects on the pulp from orthodontic treatment and the potential for resorption during tooth movement, to the clinical management of teeth requiring integrated endodontic and orthodontic treatment. This paper reviews the literature based on the definition of endodontics and the scope of endodontic practice as they relate to common orthodontic-endodontic treatment planning challenges. Literature data bases were ac

This study was undertaken to investigate the outcomes in 20 children and adolescents who had undergone an intracoronal nonvital bleaching technique. Twenty-one discolored central incisor teeth were treated by the walking bleaching method and reviewed at intervals for 18 months following completion of bleaching. All teeth bleached lightened to varying degrees, and 62% of patients expressed satisfaction with the result. When a porcelain shade guide was used as a reference before bleaching, the percentage of teeth deemed off the shade guide, gray or reddish gray, was 97%. Immediately postbleachin

There are several treatment options for patients with coronal fractures, subgingival caries perforations, and root resorption. Frequently, forced eruption is not considered, although in many cases of single-rooted teeth, forced eruption is the "gold standard" for producing an esthetic result without jeopardizing periodontal support for adjacent teeth. Sufficient tooth length, achieved through forced eruption, ensures the periodontal health of the "biologic width" and crown margin and thus a successful restorative outcome.

While common in adult teeth, radicular cysts are uncommon in deciduous teeth. When they do occur, they are associated with non-vital teeth and typically present 6 months to 5 years after vitality is lost. They cause swelling, bone-loss and permanent tooth bud displacement. Often, they are incidental findings. A case involving radicular cysts on the left and right sides of the mandible is presented. If non-vital deciduous teeth receive pulp therapy, regular post- operative reviews are recommended.
