Pedestrian Trajectory Dataset of Public European Squares.

Pedestrian trajectories are used to learn about human behavior in public space and the impact of spatial features on pedestrian flows. Currently, these trajectories are collected manually, with self-tracking devices, or with video cameras. Even when trajectories are obtained using computational techniques, such as using computer vision to trace them in space, these datasets are not made available for reproducibility or comparative studies between different locations. To close this gap, this paper makes available the data of pedestrian trajectories collected in 39 European squares. Firstly, we

SAGE: Semantic-guided framework with decoupled optimization for open-vocabulary video visual relationship detection.

Open-vocabulary video visual relationship detection (VidVRD) aims to expand video visual relationship detection beyond annotated categories by detecting unseen relationships between both seen and unseen objects in videos. Existing approaches primarily focus on adapting static image-text models (e.g., CLIP) via visual prompting but pay limited attention to the intrinsic visual-semantic gap and optimization instability in dynamic video contexts. To overcome this, we propose a Semantic-Guided Framework with Decoupled Optimization (SAGE) to decouple explicit semantic reasoning from robust classifi

Slow motion videography in Parkinson's disease: unraveling masked phenomenology.

Slow motion (SM) videography provides a novel approach to documenting and understanding movement disorders by revealing subtle phenomenological features not easily captured at normal speed. While widely used in sports and wildlife analysis, its application in clinical neurology remains limited. We present a case series of four patients with Parkinson’s disease in whom SM videography uncovered unique motor signatures. Case 1 revealed the “Scoop Sign” of hand tremor, highlighting wrist and forearm rotational components. Case 2 demonstrated incessant progressive micrographia, a distinctive writin

Video parameters for action observation training in stroke rehabilitation: a scoping review.

PURPOSE: Action observation training (AOT) is a therapeutic approach used in stroke rehabilitation. Videos form the core of AOT, and knowledge of constituent parameters is essential to make the intervention robust and generalizable. Currently, there is a dearth of available information on video parameters to be used for AOT. Our purpose was to identify and describe the parameters that constitute AOT videos for stroke rehabilitation. METHOD: Electronic databases like PubMed, CINAHL, Scopus, Web of Science, ProQuest, and Ovid SP from inception to date according to PRISMA-ScR guidelines. Title,

Treatment of Severe Recurrent Clubfoot.

Understanding the pathoanatomy of severe recurrent clubfoot and its implication on treatment options is important for the successful treatment. A comprehensive clinical evaluation of the different components helps in selecting procedures. Individual needs and social and psychological factors influencing treatment and the impact of treatment on the child have to be considered. With increasing dissemination and improved understanding of the Ponseti method, a further decrease in the frequency of severe recurrent clubfoot can be hoped for and expected.

Simultaneous Video-EEG-ECG Monitoring to Identify Neurocardiac Dysfunction in Mouse Models of Epilepsy.

In epilepsy, seizures can evoke cardiac rhythm disturbances such as heart rate changes, conduction blocks, asystoles, and arrhythmias, which can potentially increase risk of sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP). Electroencephalography (EEG) and electrocardiography (ECG) are widely used clinical diagnostic tools to monitor for abnormal brain and cardiac rhythms in patients. Here, a technique to simultaneously record video, EEG, and ECG in mice to measure behavior, brain, and cardiac activities, respectively, is described. The technique described herein utilizes a tethered (i.e., wired) r

Bedside Smartphone-Based vHIT.

This study evaluated whether smartphone-based video head impulse testing (s-vHIT) can enhance bedside HIT in acute vestibular syndrome. Using a slow-motion smartphone recording setup, s-vHIT enabled visualization of overt and covert saccades, including vertical canal responses, with qualitative agreement with conventional vHIT. These findings indicate that s-vHIT may offer a practical and ergonomic approach for video documentation and may add diagnostic value in acute vestibular assessment.

Bilaterally independent epileptic spasms in a case of Aicardi syndrome.

A girl with Aicardi syndrome was observed to have two distinct types of asymmetric epileptic spasms, as detected by ictal video-EEG recording at three months of age. When the two types of spasm concurred, they showed no mutual interactions based on either clinical or EEG aspects. This observation does not support the hypothesis that the brainstem always plays an initiating role in generating spasms. [Published with video sequences].

Pseudoseizures: diagnostic evaluation.

A prospective study of pseudoseizures using prolonged video-electroencephalographic (EEG) recording was carried out in 60 patients. Of 33 patients with episodes of uncertain mechanism, a diagnosis based on recorded episodes was made in 18 (55%). Twelve (36%) had pseudoseizures; 6 (18%) had epileptic seizures. Ten additional patients had epileptiform EEGs compatible with epilepsy. Of 27 patients with presumably uncontrolled epileptic seizures, 4 (15%) had recorded pseudoseizures. Prediction of the nature of the episode by the admitting neurologist was accurate in 67% of cases. Determination fro

Does the recording medium influence phonetic transcription of cleft palate speech?

BACKGROUND: In recent years, analyses of cleft palate speech based on phonetic transcriptions have become common. However, the results vary considerably among different studies. It cannot be excluded that differences in assessment methodology, including the recording medium, influence the results. AIMS: To compare phonetic transcriptions from audio and audio/video recordings of cleft palate speech by means of outcomes of per cent correct consonants (PCC) and differences in consonant transcriptions. METHODS & PROCEDURES: Thirty-two 3-year-olds born with cleft palate were audio and audio/video

Mobile technology for recording surgical procedures.

Mobile technology has been advancing in countless directions, and in particular medicine has been an attractive place for mobile technology innovators. The recording of surgical procedures, however, has not been one of those directions, possibly because there is a lack of software specifically designed for recording open surgical procedures. Using an iPhone SE as the device to record video along with an app devised by one of the authors, five cases of various neck surgeries (two submandibular gland resections, two neck dissections, one neck dissection and supraglottic laryngectomy) were record

Audiovisual assessment of exercise-induced laryngeal obstruction: reliability and validity of observations.

Variable obstruction to airflow at the laryngeal level may cause respiratory distress during exercise. The Continuous Laryngoscopy Exercise (CLE)-test enables direct visualization of the larynx during ongoing exercise. The aims of this study were to establish a scoring system for laryngeal obstruction as visualized during the CLE-test as well as to assess reliability and validity of this scoring system. Continuous video recording of the larynx was performed in parallel with continuous video recording of the upper part of the body, and recording of breath sounds in 80 patients and 20 symptom-ne

Athletes versus video game players: A predictive contextual processing study.

We investigated the effect of abstract and real life meaningful images from sports on predictive contextual processing in professional athletes and video gamers. EEG was recorded in three groups: professional basketball players (BP), professional athletes of individual sports (IA) and experienced action video game players (VG). Two recording sessions, each with a different set of visual stimuli was presented: either triangles facing left, up, right or down or four images of a basketball player throwing a ball. Recording blocks consisted of targets preceded by randomized sequences of standards

ManuTrace: An HTML-Based Interface for Manually Extracting Movement Trajectory Data From a Video.

Tracking the movements of animals provides fundamental insights into behavioral strategies and ecological adaptations. Recent advances in automated video analysis have enabled the extraction of movement trajectories from video recordings. However, effective automated tracking often requires careful adjustment of recording environments and iterative tuning of software parameters, imposing substantial costs in user proficiency and trial-and-error processes before analyzable data can be obtained. In exploratory analyses of pilot or opportunistically recorded videos, rapid extraction of trajectori

Correlation between pose estimation features regarding movements towards the midline in early infancy.

In infants, spontaneous movement towards the midline (MTM) indicates the initiation of anti-gravity ability development. Markerless 2D pose estimation is a cost-effective, time-efficient, and quantifiable alternative to movement assessment. We aimed to establish correlations between pose estimation features and MTM in early-age infants. Ninety-four infant videos were analysed to calculate the percentage and rate of MTM occurrence. 2D Pose estimation processed the videos and determined the distances and areas using wrist and ankle landmark coordinates. We collected data using video recordings f
