Radionuclide examination of the cerebral blood flow as well as rheoencephalographic, electroencephalographic and experimental-psychological techniques were used to study the nature and interrelationship of changes in the hemodynamics and brain function in middle-aged and elderly people with initial manifestations of cerebral atherosclerosis. The effectiveness of the Hungarian drug kavinton used to prevent motion sickness was assessed. During the study 8 motion sickness susceptible test subjects were kept in a chamber rotating at a rate of 6 rpm for 5 hours. The effectiveness of the drug taken regularly during the exposure was compared with that of scopolamine and placebo taken as a single dose. The results obtained are suggestive of a positive effect of kavinton as an antimotion drug.

We conducted a phase II trial of Vindesine in 24 patients, mostly pretreated (23/24 fully evaluable for therapeutic response) with advanced hematologic malignancies. The drug was administered at weekly bolus doses of 3 mg/m2 i.v. Overall, objective tumor regressions were seen in 9 of 23 patients. We evaluated the response to therapy and outcome in patients with HIV-associated KS. Eighteen of 26 patients with newly diagnosed KS were treated continuously with IFN until progression of the disease occurred.
