Molecular Characterization of Escherichia coli Causing Community-Acquired Urinary Tract Infections in a Suburban Area in West Bengal, India: Dispersal of Multidrug-Resistant Epidemic ST131 Clone Carrying CTX-M-1.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) imperils global public health overlooking the epidemiological situation of community-acquired infections, especially in low- and middle-income countries. We conducted this study in a suburban community in West Bengal, India, to comprehend the AMR and bacterial forensics of Escherichia coli causing community-acquired urinary tract infections (CAUTIs). Antibiograms, β-lactamases, plasmid-mediated quinolone resistance genes, and plasmids were investigated to explore AMR. Bacterial forensics was assessed using phylogrouping, genetic fingerprinting, and strain typing.

Antibiotic Resistance Mediated by Escherichia coli in Kuwait Marine Environment as Revealed through Genomic Analysis.

Antibiotic-resistance gene elements (ARGEs) such as antibiotic-resistance genes (ARGs), integrons, and plasmids are key to the spread of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in marine environments. Kuwait's marine area is vulnerable to sewage contaminants introduced by numerous storm outlets and indiscriminate waste disposal near recreational beaches. Therefore, it has become a significant public health issue and warrants immediate investigation. Coliforms, especially Gram-negative Escherichia coli, have been regarded as significant indicators of recent fecal pollution and carriers of ARGEs. In this

Omic insights into various ceftazidime-avibactam-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates from two southern Italian regions.

Ceftazidime-avibactam (CZA) is one of the best therapeutic options available for infections caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase (KPC)-producing bacteria. However, sporadic reports of CZA-resistant strains have been rapidly increasing in patients. Herein, we provide detailed case reports of the emergence of ceftazidime-avibactam resistance to identify their resistome and virulome using genomic molecular approaches. Sixteen isolates were collected from 13 patients at three hospitals in Catania and Catanzaro (Italy) between 2020-2021. Antimicrobial susceptibility was determined by broth
