The multifunctional acrylates used in ultraviolet (UV) curable resins act as cross-linkers and "diluents". They are usually based on di(meth)acrylate esters of dialcohols or tri- and tetra-acrylate esters of polyalcohols. In UV-curable coatings, the most commonly used are pentaerythritol triacrylate (PETA), trimethylolpropane triacrylate (TMPTA) and 1,6-hexanediol diacrylate (HDDA). In other uses, such as dental composite resin materials, the dimethacrylic monomers based on n-ethylene glycol are the most useful. The sensitizing capacity of various multifunctional acrylates and their cross-reac

BACKGROUND: Debonding of acrylic teeth from the denture base is a common problem. Certain clinical conditions like ridge prominence leads to excess trimming of acrylic teeth and base, resulting in a weak interface. The denture base polymer debonds adhesively in the region of the highly cross -linked matrix of the teeth. To compare the effect of different chemical surface treatments on the bond between cross-linked acrylic teeth and different types of denture base material.
MATERIALS & METHODS: A total of 180 wax specimens were fabricated and divided into 3 groups: Heat-cure, high impact heat-

A wax tray is stable and easily relieved if overextended. Unusual tray undercuts or angles needed for the partial resection patient need not be eliminated before the impression procedure. Relief of these undercuts is necessary with acrylic resin trays to ensure separation from the final stone cast. Because the wax tray is separated easily from the prosthesis during the boil-out, it is not necessary to "burn" or grind acrylic resin from the framework. The tray shape is duplicated from the existing interim prosthesis on the nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal side. An arbitrarily shaped acrylic res

INTRODUCTION: Heat cure acrylic resins are the most commonly used denture base materials. The important limitation is they may act as reservoir of microorganisms. The adherence of microorganisms can be reduced by chemical modification of the surface charge of denture base resin. Incorporation of methacrylic acid (MA) in the denture base resin gives a negative surface charge. A denture base having a negative surface charge may hinder the initial adhesion of microorganisms through repulsive electrostatic forces.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES: The present in vitro study was performed to determine the effe

AIM: Debonding of denture teeth from the denture base can be frustrating for both the clinician as well as his or her patients. The wear resistance of composite denture teeth has been well investigated since their introduction, but there have been few studies about the bonding of these teeth to acrylic denture base resins. The aim of this study was to compare the bond strengths of two brands of acrylic and one brand of multilithic denture teeth to acrylic denture base material.
METHODS AND MATERIALS: In this experimental-laboratory study, three types of denture teeth--Yaghoot, Super Brilian,

The development of high-performance bio-based thermosetting resins for 3D printing is highly desirable in engineering applications. However, conventional photocurable 3D printing resins are limited by unsatisfactory mechanical properties and structural stability due to insufficient molecular weight growth under UV irradiation and weak interlayer bonding. Herein, we developed a bio-based thermosetting resin with excellent mechanical properties, structural stability, and reparability via photothermal dual-curing 3D printing technology. A castor oil-derived monomer bearing both acrylate groups an

Acrylates are synthetic thermoplastic resins used in a multitude of products, ranging from bone cement to artificial nails. They represent an important and increasing cause of both occupational and nonoccupational allergic contact dermatitis. Isobornyl acrylate, an acrylic monomer found within ultraviolet-cured inks, adhesives and various medical devices for diabetes, has emerged as an important sensitizer. In addition, long-lasting nail products have played a significant role in the increased prevalence of acrylate allergy. Sensitized individuals classically present with facial or eyelid derm
