Exploring the Facilitators and Barriers of Adherence to Mediterranean-Ketogenic Dietary Interventions in Parkinson's Disease: A Qualitative Study.

BACKGROUND: Emerging research suggests indications for both Mediterranean and ketogenic diets in Parkinson's disease (PD), with hybrid Mediterranean-ketogenic interventions potentially conferring maximal benefit. However, the acceptability of these interventions in individuals with PD (PwPs) remains to be established. OBJECTIVES: To explore and compare factors affecting PwPs' experiences with and adherence to an 8-wk Mediterranean-ketogenic (MeDi-KD) versus an 8-wk medium-chain triglyceride (MCT)-supplemented Mediterranean (MeDi-MCT) diet. METHODS: Forty-eight PwPs took part in ≥1 phase of t

Interventions to enhance HIV medication adherence among individuals using substances: a systematic review and critique of the literature.

Medication adherence is essential to achieve sustained viral suppression for individuals living with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). The use of alcohol and substances may interfere with medication adherence and lead to adverse outcomes. Thus, this review sought to examine the literature on behavioral interventions that improve medication adherence among individuals with HIV who are using alcohol or drugs. Articles were included if they met the following criteria: (a) included individuals diagnosed with HIV (b) were published in English between January 1, 2000 and June 15, 2023, (c) evaluat

Scale offers the possibility of identifying adherence to lifestyle interventions in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most common chronic liver disorder, and dietary and lifestyle interventions remain the mainstays of NAFLD therapy. Zeng et al established a prediction system to evaluate adherence to lifestyle interventions in patients with NAFLD and choose optimal management. Here, we discuss the application scenarios of the scale and the areas warranting further attention, aiming to provide a possible reference for clinical recommendations.

Impact of educational interventions on clinician knowledge, adherence, and satisfaction utilizing a CKD care pathway in primary care.

BACKGROUND: Primary care clinicians are central to early chronic kidney disease (CKD) detection and management, yet often lack structured tools to support guideline-based care. CKD is common, underdiagnosed, and frequently undertreated in primary care, despite guideline-recommended screening and disease-modifying therapies. Structured CKD care pathways may improve clinician knowledge, confidence, and adherence to evidence-based management, yet real-world implementation data remain limited. METHODS: A prospective, multi-site pilot study was conducted at 2 health systems implementing a shared C

Interventions Designed to Improve Adherence to Growth Hormone Treatment for Pediatric Patients and Their Families: A Narrative Review.

Even though growth hormone (GH) treatment is still the only active treatment option to correct growth failure and increase stature for patients with GH deficiencies, evidence has shown that non-adherence remains high. The aim of this review was to identify and review the existing interventional strategies that have been designed to address and improve adherence to GH treatment for pediatric patients and their families. An extensive search of several electronic databases was undertaken to identify relevant interventional studies, published in English, between 1985 and 2021. Additional search st

Why? What? How? Using an Intervention Mapping approach to develop a personalised intervention to improve adherence to photoprotection in patients with Xeroderma Pigmentosum.

Background: Intervention Mapping (IM) is a systematic approach for developing theory-based interventions across a variety of contexts and settings. This paper describes the development of a complex intervention designed to reduce the dose of ultraviolet radiation (UVR) reaching the face of adults with Xeroderma Pigmentosum (XP), by improving photoprotection. XP is a genetic condition that without extreme UVR photoprotection, leads to high risk of developing skin cancer. Methods: The IM protocol of 6 steps was applied, involving comprehensive mixed-methods formative research. Key stakeholders (

Cost-effectiveness of a smart pillbox intervention for adherence to oral HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis.

Despite proven oral pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) efficacy, adherence barriers among men who have sex with men (MSM) persist. Economic viability of digital adherence tools in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) requires validation. We assessed the 6-month within-trial cost-effectiveness of a digital intervention for real-time enhancement of oral PrEP adherence (DIRECT-PrEP) in China, from health system, multipayer, and societal perspectives. Costs were derived from hospital records, and effectiveness was evaluated using quality-adjusted life-years (QALYs) and PrEP-adherence days (PADs).
