To investigate the effect of brinzolamide on diurnal fluctuations in the intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients on latanoprost ophthalmic solution prospectively was aimed. Eleven patients with primary open angle glaucoma were enrolled in this study. The subjects were admitted to the hospital and had their IOPs measured over 24 hours (10 AM, noon, 2 PM, 4 PM, 6 PM, 8 PM, 10 PM, midnight, 3 AM, 6 AM, and 8AM). This study addresses the challenge of low drug bioavailability in topical ocular administration by developing and validating an ex vivo bovine eye model chamber to evaluate the effects of iontophoresis on drug delivery and corneal properties. PURPOSE: We report a case of retinopathy and uveitis associated with sofosbuvir therapy for hepatitis C infection.
METHODS: Case report.
RESULTS: A 57-year-old-male developed ocular inflammation and retinopathy four weeks after the administration of sofosbuvir for a hepatitis C infection. Hearing loss, rheumatologic disease, and essential tremor were also noted. The ophthalmic findings resolved with discontinuation of the drug.
CONCLUSION: The authors report a case of sofosbuvir induced retinopathy and uveitis, the first associated with this emerging therapy for hepatitis C. Ophthalmologist

This real-world analysis was performed on administrative databases to evaluate characteristics, therapies, and related economic burden of glaucoma in Italy. Adults with at least 1 prescription for ophthalmic drops (ATC class S01E: antiglaucoma preparations, miotics) during data availability period (January 2010-June 2021) were screened, then patients with glaucoma were included. First date of ophthalmic drops prescription was the index date. Included patients had at least 12 months of data availability before index-date and afterwards. Overall, 18,161 glaucoma-treated patients were identified.

It is generally believed that topical administration of eye drops safeguards against harmful systemic effects.
