A study of membrane proteins in pernicious anaemia and other haemolitic and anhaemolytic erythropathies is reported. Amino acid concentrations in plasma of patients with Huntington's disease (HD) were determined in 16 patients and 21 age- and sex-matched healthy controls. Alanine and isoleucine were significantly decreased in HD plasma whereas arginine, histidine, leucine, lysine, ornithine, proline, serine, threonine, tyrosine, and valine showed no significant changes. The SBL-1 strain of mumps virus, grouping with genotype A on the basis of the small hydrophobic protein gene sequence, was grown in the presence of three different monoclonal antibodies. BACKGROUND & AIMS: The ingestion by rats of different proteins causes large differences in the plasma ratio of tryptophan to other large neutral amino acids, which predicts brain tryptophan uptake and serotonin synthesis. We evaluated in humans whether ingesting these proteins also produces large excursions in the tryptophan ratio.
