BACKGROUND: Most women worry to some extent during pregnancy about exposure to agents that might harm their babies.
CASES: We describe three women who worried excessively throughout pregnancy about harming their babies because of exposure to agents including, but not limited to, psychotropic drugs. These women were extremely resistant to reassurances that their babies would not be adversely affected, and it is likely there are more women in the community who fit this profile. We have described a number of management strategies that we found effective in caring for these women during pregnancy

Of a consecutive series of 1,000 psychiatric consultation requests, 195 were for patients 60 years of age or older. The most frequent psychiatric diagnoses assigned by the consultant were organic psychiatric and depressive spectrum disorders. AIMS: to assess referrals to a prison liaison service of regional forensic services in Auckland.
METHODS: data on forensic psychiatric referrals from Auckland prisons 1 October 1989 to 30 September 1990 were collected. This was the first year of the service.

OBJECTIVE: This study aims to describe the association between pre- and post-discharge factors and early readmission to acute psychiatric wards in a well-integrated community-based psychiatric service.
METHODS: The analysis consisted of all the hospital discharge records containing a psychiatric diagnosis in 2011 from four Italian acute inpatient wards. Socio-demographic, clinical, admission and aftercare variables were investigated as possible predictors of readmission at 7, 30 and 90 days after discharge and were analyzed, controlling for dependency among same-patient observations.
