Utilization of influenza and streptococcal pharyngitis point-of-care testing in the community pharmacy practice setting.

BACKGROUND: One way to reduce the complications and costs of influenza like illness and pharyngitis is to improve access to testing and treatment in early stages of infection. Pharmacy-based screening and treatment of group A streptococcus (GAS) infection and influenza has the potential to improve patient care and population health. OBJECTIVE: To improve patient care and population health, the objective of this retrospective study was to assess if a previously validated service model could be implemented by pharmacy chains without mandated standardization. METHODS: Researchers utilized a cer

Factors associated with institutional delivery practice among women in pastoral community of Dubti district, Afar region, Northeast Ethiopia: a community-based cross-sectional study.

BACKGROUND: Eighty-five percent of the global burden of maternal mortality was covered by Sub-Saharan Africa. Ethiopia is a major contributor to the death of mothers with a maternal mortality ratio of 676 per 100,000 live births. Only 10% of deliveries in Ethiopia were at health facility with the least (6.4%) in the Afar region. However, there is limited evidence about factors of institutional delivery in the study area. Thus, this study aimed to assess the magnitude and associated factors of institutional delivery practice among women in the pastoral community of Dubti district, Northeast Eth

A global community of practice to improve public-private engagement in TB: the TBPPM Learning Network.

BACKGROUND: In many high-TB-burden settings, most people seek initial care from private providers who are often not integrated into national TB programmes. Public-private mix (PPM) strategies are therefore critical, yet difficult to operationalise. Communities of Practice (CoPs) can act as health system enablers and facilitate knowledge exchange, but empirical evidence on their long-term function in disease specific contexts is limited. METHODS: We conducted a mixed-methods descriptive analysis of the TBPPM Learning Network (LN) from 2019 to 2025. Quantitative data from routine platform analy

A Pilot Study Comparing a Community of Practice Program with and without Concurrent Ketamine-Assisted Therapy.

The prevalence of depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) has increased among healthcare providers, while the effectiveness of conventional treatments remains limited. Ketamine-assisted therapy offers a promising alternative; however, few have integrated ketamine with a group-based therapeutic modality. We report a retrospective, secondary analysis of a 12-week pilot of a Community of Practice (CoP) oriented group therapy program with optional, adjunct ketamine for depression, anxiety, and PTSD in a sample of 57 healthcare providers. All participants moved through the tr

A comparative study of neurotics seen in a community mental health center and in private practice.

Differences that emerge in comparisons of persons applying for psychiatric care at a mental health center with those applying to the private sector are comfounded by marked diagnostic differences beyond obvious social class differences. To circumvent that problem and to ascertain what differences, if any, persist after diagnosis is held constant, the authors examined demographic and psychosocial characteristics of neurotics in a one-year adult applicant population, the only major diagnostic group treated in large numbers and similar proportions by the center and the private sector. Findings sh

Nursing students' perceptions of community care and other areas of nursing practice - A review of the literature.

OBJECTIVES: To review recent literature on student nurses' perceptions of different areas of nursing practice, in particular community care. Healthcare is changing from care delivery in institutional settings to care to patients in their own homes. Problematic is that nursing students do not see community care as an attractive line of work, and their perceptions of community care do not reflect the realities of the profession. Understanding the factors influencing the perception of the professional field is important to positively influence students' willingness to see community nursing as a f

BACKGROUND: The delivery of specialist stroke rehabilitation is undergoing a significant transformation, with telerehabilitation increasingly integrated into clinical practice and supported by guidelines and policy. There is a need for the pragmatic evaluation of telerehabilitation in service, which includes insights from clinical teams and people with stroke. This evaluation sought to address that need in the context of community stroke services in the East of England. OBJECTIVE: Our evaluation addressed two over-arching aims: (1) to investigate and map contemporary models and experiences of

Feasibility assessment of an EHR-integrated research platform for prospective data collection in community oncology practice.

Post-approval observational studies that rely on traditional data collection approaches may be burdensome for community oncology settings with limited research infrastructure. We conducted a prospective observational study using an EHR-integrated platform to evaluate its feasibility for streamlining data collection in community oncology. We were able to capture high-quality data on infusion-related reactions in patients with multiple myeloma receiving daratumumab. The EHR-integrated platform included centralized patient identification, automated EHR-to-electronic data capture system data trans
