A new method is described to determine trace quantities of N-nitrosodiethanolamine (NDElA) in aqueous diethanolamine (DElA) formulations and in oil solutions of dinoseb. A formate anion-exchange column is used in series with a cation-exchange column if there is DElA in the formulation. The eluate is then passed through a Clin Elut column. Depending on the concentration of NDElA in the sample, a packed silica-gel column is used to purify the extract further. Phenolic compounds are one of the main contributors to water source contamination worldwide. In this review, the data collected on Elsevier, Scopus, and Pubmed, considering papers published between 2000 and 2023, showed more than 60 different phenols have been identified in water matrix (<0.065-179,000,000 ng L-1). The contribution of flavoprotein fluorescence to redox sensitive cellular autofluorescence was studied in single isolated adult rat heart cells. Fluorescence was measured quantitatively under conditions stimulating flavoprotein fluorescence in cells subjected to no inhibitors (sham), to cyanide, to 2,4-dinitrophenol, and to hypoxia. Paraquat and diquat, bipyridilium herbicides, have been shown to be accumulated into pneumocytes of three species in culture. Paraquat at 10(-3) M was accumulated to a maximum of 3-7 nmol/mg protein for 20 min. Diquat accumulated more slowly but reached a concentration of 1-6 nmol/mg protein for 60 min. The cellular ATP concentration was tested for its effect on fatty acid biosynthesis from glucose in hepatocytes. ATP was manipulated by adding increasing concentrations of cycloheximide, amytal, atractyloside, 2,4-dinitrophenol or adenosine. The generation of ATP by cell-free extracts of Mycobacterium lepraemurium isolated from Sprague-Dawley rats was investigated.
