Syringomas on the vulvar skin are relatively rare and generally bilateral. They are usually asymptomatic but can be symptomatic, with vulvar discomfort, burning, and/or pruritus. Management options include topical steroids, topical retinoids, and oral antihistamines. Cases refractory to conservative treatment may require procedural intervention, such as cryotherapy, excision, or electrosurgery. Here we describe a case of symptomatic vulvar syringomas refractory to medical management that were successfully treated with electrodessication and curettage.

During the past few years there has been a marked increase in the occurrence of condyloma. A variety of treatment methods, including mental suggestion, local 5-fluorouracil, podophyllum, electrosurgery, and cryotherapy, has been used with varying success. An experience in 47 patients, some of whom were pregnant, treated with the carbon dioxide laser is presented. The possible relationship to malignancy and tracheobronchial papillomatosis in children is discussed.

Leiomyomas are the most common pelvic tumors. Submucosal fibroids are a common cause of abnormal bleeding and infertility. Hysteroscopic myomectomy is the definitive management of symptomatic submucosal fibroids, with high efficacy and safety. Several techniques have been introduced over time and will be covered in depth in this manuscript. Advances in optics, fluid management, electrosurgery, smaller diameter scopes, and tissue removal systems, along with improved training have contributed to improving the safety and efficiency of hysteroscopic myomectomy.

Laparoscopic intra-abdominal ligation and removal of cryptorchid testes in horses was evaluated retrospectively in 50 horses that underwent the procedure between 1991 and 1996. When the prevention of new lesions fails and when medical therapy of established and growing lesions is ineffective, surgery is the accepted method of dealing with hidradenitis suppurativa/acne inversa. The rationale and preferred techniques of mini-unroofing using a biopsy punch, deroofing using scissors, electrosurgery or laser, and classical wide excision and closure are discussed. The situation in which incision and drainage is considered for temporary pain relief would be best considered an opportunity for deroofing, as illustrated in the accompanying online videos.

Intratracheal metastasis from non-pulmonary neoplasm is extremely rare. We report a 53-year-old woman presenting with upper airway obstruction and stridor due to intratracheal metastasis from latissimus dorsi liposarcoma. Chest computed tomography revealed an intratracheal mass leading to intralumimal obstruction of the upper airway. At rigid bronchoscopy, a 2-cm intratracheal mass was identified and resected with endobronchial electrosurgery to establish a satisfactory airway with marked symptomatic benefit. We discuss this unusual metastatic presentation.

Perioperative fires inside the mouth can have long-lasting sequelae. They are potentially dangerous both to the patient and to the operation room staff as well. Herein, we present a flash fire in the oropharynx, secondary to electrosurgery during a tonsillectomy operation in a young child. Despite a potentially devastating situation, the patient recovered well within just a week following intraoral burn injuries, and the initially interrupted tonsillectomy operation was completed without complications. The dangerous situations leading to fire hazards and the prevention measures are discussed.

Foreign body (FB) aspiration into the tracheobronchial tree is an emergency in the pediatric department, particularly in children aged <3 years. FB granulation tissue is commonly found in children with FB aspiration. However, scarring in the bronchus caused by a FB is rare. We herein report a case involving aspiration of a plastic whistle toy with scarring in the bronchus. The scar tissue was successfully removed by interventional bronchoscopy combined with a flexible electrosurgery probe and carbon dioxide cryotherapy.

Massive intraoperative blood loss and poor graft take have been the major problems associated with early excision and immediate grafting of full-thickness burns. By employing electrosurgery, excessive blood loss was virtually eliminated in a series of major burn excisions. Immediate graft take was excellent on electrosurgical wounds after primary burn excisions and in late reconstructive procedures. Simplicity, improved hemostasia, good graft take, and the absence of special anesthetic requirements make this method particularly applicable to the management of patients with burn injury.

Bladder cancer is the fifth most common tumor in men with the incidence of bladder tumors continuing to rise in industrialized and developed countries. Because 80% of all bladder tumors grow on the surface, endoscopic transurethral resection (TUR-B) can be used for complete removal. Due to continuous technical developments and improvements of endoscopic equipment, video imaging and bipolar resection (TUR-IS) offers a high level of safety.
