Herein we present the synthesis and full characterization of the previously unpresented lithium diphenyl phosphides Li(15-crown-5)PPh2 (1Li) and Li(12-crown-4)PPh2 (2Li) as well as the heavy homologues Rb(18-crown-6)PPh2 (1Rb) and Cs(18-crown-6)PPh2 (1Cs). Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) is a critical enzyme in the glycolytic metabolism pathway that is used by many tumor cells. Inhibitors of LDH may be expected to inhibit the metabolic processes in cancer cells and thus selectively delay or inhibit growth in transformed versus normal cells. Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) are pollutants that may increase the risk of preterm birth. In previous studies, we found that a mixture of PBDEs altered the expression of biomarkers for preterm birth by the placenta. However, there are 209 different PBDE congeners with different tissue distributions. METHODS: Dimethyl ether were sampled with solvent desorption active carbon tube. The sampled carbon tube were desorbed by carbon tetrachloride, Elite-WAX column was used with temperature programmed from 40 to 90 degrees C, and the carrier gas programmed from 1.4 - 2.5 ml/min.
RESULTS: There was a good linearity (r = 0.9999) over the concentration of 0-63.91 microg/L, detection limit can reach 0.75 microg/ml.

Occupational exposure to petroleum products (gasoline) and elevated blood levels of MTBE have been demonstrated among gasoline station attendants. While MTBE and its metabolites have been considered environmentally inert, immunologically these materials could be reactive. This study was conducted to assess the immunological reactivity of humans to MTBE. A case of severe poisoning with ethylene glycol butyl ether (EGBE) after massive ingestion is described. Deep coma, metabolic acidosis, hypokalaemia, haemoglobinuria, oxaluria and a transitory rise in the serum creatinine level were observed. The elimination of the various metabolites butoxyacetic acid and oxalate was assessed in urine and a metabolic pattern for EGBE is suggested.

Mice were tested in a situation permitting them to step readily from a small, restrictive platform to a larger one. Conditioned avoidance was established by a single training trial when animals received a shock by stepping from one platform to another. At various intervals after the single punishing shock, subjects were anesthetized with diethyl ether. Interference with retention, tested 1 day later, was shown for intervals up to 24 minutes, at which time ether no longer appeared to influence the subsequent response.
