In recent years, coagulase-negative staphylococci such as Staphylococcus epidermidis have gained importance as nosocomial pathogens, especially in immunocompromised patients and prosthetic joint infections (PJIs). We report a 66-year-old woman with a 3-year history of intensely pruritic follicular papules in the axillar, pubic and inguinal areas. Previous treatment with topical fusidic acid and gentamicin sulfate was ineffective. The clinical and histological examination was consistent with Fox-Fordyce disease. Application of clindamycin in an alcoholic propylene glycol solution led to the clearing of the lesions within 1 month. Nine months later, the treatment was stopped, and no recurrence was observed.

BACKGROUND: Acanthosis nigricans (AN) is a rare mucocutaneous condition that can involve the oral tissues. There are 2 clinical forms of AN: benign and malignant. Benign AN is related to systemic diseases such as diabetes and obesity or can be induced by drugs such as systemic corticosteroids, nicotinic acid, estrogens, insulin, and fusidic acid. Malignant AN appears in association with tumors such as lung, ovarian, breast, and gastric carcinoma.
METHODS: A rare case of malignant AN that initially manifested in the oral cavity of a 73-year-old patient is reported.

The present study aims to characterise clinical MRSA isolates from a tertiary care centre in Egypt's second-largest city, Alexandria. Thirty isolates collected in 2020 were genotypically characterised by microarray to detect their resistance and virulence genes and assign them to clonal complexes (CC) and strains.
