Lateral Access Pouch Technique to Treat Implants With Gingival Recession.

Connective tissue grafting is a means of developing stable and natural-looking soft-tissue architecture. The use of a subepithelial connective tissue graft (SCTG) has been successful in achieving root coverage and augmenting tissue thickness. Tunnel techniques enable root coverage with results that appear natural. These techniques can be applied to the treatment of dental implants with gingival recession. The purpose of this article is to demonstrate the use of a SCTG and a lateral access pouch in the treatment of multiple gingival recession defects affecting adjacent implants.

Spontaneous improvement of gingival recession after correction of tooth positioning.

A 30-year-old woman sought treatment for malpositioned mandibular incisors; the roots were positioned outside the alveolar bone, related to severe localized gingival recession. She had been previously treated orthodontically and subsequently underwent 2 gingival grafts. The new treatment included torquing the roots back within the alveolar bone and referral to a periodontist for a gingival graft. In this clinical report, the possible spontaneous improvement of gingival recession is discussed. A hypothesis described in the literature is called the "creeping attachment" phenomenon. Gingival recession: prevalence and risk indicators among young greek adults.

Primary pulmonary Hodgkin's lymphoma (PPHL) is a rare subtype of lymphoma that comprises a small percentage of primary pulmonary lymphomas. Due to its rarity and nonspecific symptoms, PPHL often presents diagnostic challenges. This case report presents a unique case of PPHL mimicking granulomatosis with polyangiitis, emphasizing the difficulties encountered during the diagnostic process. A 53-year-old female presented with vague symptoms including weakness, oedema, dry cough, and nasal cavity ulceration. Laboratory investigations revealed elevated C-reactive protein levels, a white blood cell

Comparison of age and sex regarding gingival and papillary recession.

No studies have been published concerning the comparison between gingival and papillary recession in the maxillary esthetic zone (including incisors, canines, and premolars) regarding age and sex. This study addressed this issue. Adults (n = 250) with fully erupted permanent dentitions, healthy gingivae, and natural teeth in the maxillary esthetic area were included. Visual examinations were performed to detect papillary and gingival recession. Space evident apical to the contact area of adjacent teeth was recorded as papillary recession; a cementoenamel junction visible coronal to the buccal

Coverage of gingival recession using tunnel connective tissue graft technique.

The recession of gingiva is increasingly becoming a more prominent condition in the oral health of many patients and should be treated at its earliest detection. The multi-factorial etiology, decision modality, and current trends followed in treatment of gingival recession are discussed in this presentation. The correction of class I and II gingival recessions are presented as a means of minimizing surgical trauma and achieving predictable aesthetic results. In this case report, I present an alternative technique in treating gingival recession- the tunnel connective tissue graft.

Gingival recession and pathologic migration due to an unusual habit.

Various etiologies are implicated as causes of gingival recession and pathological tooth migration, most prevalent among these being the tissue destruction caused by periodontal pathogens. One of the least documented causes is a parafunctional habit, such as digit-sucking or sucking on objects like pencils, pens or toothpicks, all of which can lead to adverse effects on the dentition and the periodontal tissues resulting in midline diastema, alveolar bone loss, gingival recession, mobility, and ultimately tooth loss. This case report describes the periodontal injury caused by an unusual habit

Connective tissue grafting on resin ionomer in localized gingival recession.

BACKGROUND: One of the main objectives of periodontal reconstructive surgery is the coverage of exposed roots that occur due to gingival recession. On some occasions, where a caries, root resorption, or amalgam restoration exists on the exposed root surface, the treatment planning becomes more complex. This case report describes the use of a subepithelial connective tissue graft (SCTG) on a resin ionomer-restored root surface to treat gingival recession that is complicated with the above-mentioned handicaps. METHODS: An amalgam restoration and carious lesion were removed following full-thickn

Evaluation of gingival recession in left- and right-handed adults.

Recession is the exposure of the root surface by an apical shift in the position of the gingiva. Several factors have been implicated in the etiology of gingival recession. The aim of this study was to assess the relationship between gingival recession and the hand, right or left, duration, frequency, and technique of tooth brushing in left- and right-handed adults in Erzurum, Turkey. Fifty five left-handed (35 female and 20 male) and 55 right-handed (35 female and 25 male) subjects were included in the study. The left and right hand positions of the subjects were determined by using Oldfield'

Gingival recession around implants: a 1-year longitudinal prospective study.

A longitudinal study was performed, which measured the soft tissue around implants following surgery, to determine if a predictable pattern of soft tissue changes could be identified. This study evaluated 63 implants in 11 patients. Baseline measurements were recorded at stage 2 surgery in 2-stage implant systems, and at stage 1 surgery in the 1-stage system. Subsequent measurements were recorded at 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 1 year after baseline measurements. The majority of the recession occurred within the first 3 months, and 80% of all sites exhibited recession on

Root coverage of large localized gingival recession: a biometric study.

With the objective of obtaining root coverage in areas of large localized gingival recessions, 16 cases of localized gingival recessions varying from 3.5 to 10 mm (total recession) were treated with a coronally positioned gingival autograft in conjunction with mechanical (root planing) and chemical (saturated citric acid) treatment of the exposed root surfaces. Changes in sulcus depth, percentage of root coverage, and gain in attached gingiva were observed over the course of a 6-month period. The results showed no significant change in sulcus depth, coverage of 72.17% of the exposed root surfa

Gingival recession in relation to history of hard toothbrush use.

Gingival recession studies in the U.S. have related primarily to sex and age with little consideration of toothbrush hardness. This preliminary study examined the relation between a history of hard toothbrush use and gingival recession. A total of 182 subjects, male and female, between 18 and 65 years of age, with a minimum of 18 natural teeth, no advanced periodontitis or history of periodontal surgery were examined. Gingival recession was scored as present whenever the free gingival margin was apical to the cemento-enamel junction and root surface was exposed. History of hard toothbrush use

Gingival recession coverage using connective tissue graft and tunnel technique.

Gingival recession in the esthetic zone is a frequent clinical challenge that can be effectively managed with an autogenous palatal connective tissue graft in combination with the tunnel technique. This case report presents a 30-year-old patient with Miller Class II gingival recession involving the labial surfaces of the mandibular incisors. The primary objective was to achieve predictable root coverage and improvement in the width of attached gingiva using a minimally invasive tunneling approach. The tunnel technique offers several advantages in the management of multiple gingival recessions.

Partly Deepithelialized Free Gingival Graft for Treatment of Lingual Recession.

INTRODUCTION: Gingival recession (GR) is an unhealthy root exposure that could result in sensitivity, abrasion, root caries and higher chance of plaque collection. The prevalence of GR is higher on the facial surfaces but could also affect the lingual tooth surfaces. Despite the etiology and location of GR, treatment is warranted to improve the long-term periodontal stability around the affected teeth. This case report describes the use of partly deepithelialized free gingival graft (PE-FGG) to augment lingual GR post orthodontic treatment. CASE PRESENTATION: The current report evaluates the

Exploring the Gingival Recession Surgical Treatment Modalities: A Literature Review.

Gingival recessions present complex soft tissue pathology, with a multiple aetiology and a high prevalence which increases with age. They are defined as an exposure of the root surface of the teeth as a result of the apical migration of the gingival margin beyond the cementum-enamel junction, causing functional and aesthetic disturbances to the affected individuals. Aiming to ensure complete root coverage and satisfying aesthetic outcomes, a wide range of surgical techniques have been proposed through the decades for the treatment of the gingival recessions. The following literature review att
