Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) is emerging as one of the major health problems in Bangladesh. Worldwide, there are roughly 71 million people who are chronically infected. Prevalence of HCV infection in Bangladesh is 0.88%. Chronic HCV carriers have the potential of transmitting HCV parenterally in the hospital setting; thus, health care workers (HCWs) are at risk of contracting HCV, with the most likely exposure being via a needle stick injury (NSI). As there is no effective vaccine till today, personal protection, safe transfusion of blood and blood products, safe disposal of Hospital bio-waste and

OBJECTIVE: Foodborne zoonotic trematodes (FZT), which infect the liver, lungs and intestines of humans, are an emerging public health concern in tropical countries including Vietnam. In northern Vietnam, Clonorchis sinensis is recognised as the most important species of the FZT. Up to now, small-scale studies conducted in the country have indicated that health education could improve participants' knowledge and practices related to clonorchiasis, however strong evidence is still lacking. We conducted an intervention trial between 2020 and 2021 in four communes in Yen Bai and Thanh Hoa province

OBJECTIVES: Schistosomiasis is a zoonotic infectious disease that seriously harms people's physical and mental health. As early as 1985, the WHO suggested that health education and health promotion should be the focus of schistosomiasis prevention work. This study aimed to explore the effect of health education on controlling the risk of schistosomiasis transmission after schistosomiasis blocking and to provide a scientific basis for the further improvement of intervention strategies after schistosomiasis interruption in China and other endemic countries.

BACKGROUND: Podoconiosis, lymphatic filariasis and leprosy are highly stigmatised neglected tropical diseases that cause lymphoedema. Their enormous impacts on health-related quality of life, mental health and economic productivity can be significantly reduced by morbidity management and disability prevention (MMDP) services, but to deliver such services requires appropriate training of healthcare professionals. The aim of this study was to assess the knowledge, attitudes and practices (KAP) of rural Ethiopian healthcare professionals towards people with lymphoedema as a way to assess training

The presence of zoonotic diseases adversely affects livestock production and farmers' livelihood in communal areas. A lack of awareness about zoonotic diseases among rural farmers results in economic losses and health risks. The far north-eastern corner of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) province, South Africa, is home to large numbers of communal livestock farmers who live adjacent to wildlife reserves and international borders. There have been reports of zoonotic and trade-sensitive diseases in the area, but farmers' knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) in this regard are poorly understood. This st

We aim to identify knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding CM among health care providers in ECS at Mavalane General Hospital in Maputo, Mozambique.
METHODS: This exploratory cross-sectional study evaluates the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of health care providers to diagnose and treat cases of CM. A 25 min, pilot-tested verbal inte

Dental health professionals (DHPs) are at risk for bloodborne viruses. We evaluated hepatitis B and hepatitis C seroprevalence and knowledge, attitudes and practices regarding viral hepatitis in Georgia. We randomly selected 214 dental facilities. DHPs underwent face-to-face interviews and provided blood samples. High knowledge and practice were defined as correctly responding to 70% or more of the questions. Samples were tested for antibodies against hepatitis C virus (anti-HCV) and, if reactive, for HCV RNA; total hepatitis B core antibodies (anti-HBc) and, if reactive, for hepatitis B surfa

Advancements in antiretroviral therapy (ART) have significantly improved morbidity and mortality rates among people with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) (PWH), leading to prolonged survival, and many are now living into middle and old age. However, this population now faces aging-related comorbidities, including cachexia HIV-associated wasting (HIVAW), which remains inadequately addressed in the context of contemporary ART. Effective management of HIVAW requires a multifaceted approach that targets underlying causes while addressing coexisting health conditions. Currently, recombinant human

Male students consistently demonstrate poorer oral health knowledge and practices than their female counterparts, yet they remain understudied. This study aimed to assess oral health knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) among male primary school students in Al Lith city, Saudi Ar

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed into an endemic COVID-19 disease and health workers continue to be at high risk. The situation requires continued use of COVID-19 control measures by health workers and this will likely depend on their sources of information/knowledge/attitude about COVID-19 and previous use of COVID-19 control measures. We explored the COVID-19 information sources, knowledge, attitude, control practices, and the predictors, among health workers in Ebonyi state, Nigeria. We implemented an online-offline analytical cross-sectional survey from March 12 to May 9, 2022 among all c

Herein, a relatively rare case is reported in which a knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) health education model was applied in a young female patient with metabolic syndrome (MS) and acute pancreatitis (AP), with a satisfactory effect. The purpose of this report is to provide a reference for a viable health education program in clinical practice for intervention of MS with concurrent AP in the absence of clinical trials. The patient's unhealthy lifestyle led to obesity, diabetes mellitus, severe fatty liver, hyperlipidemia, and AP. We used a KAP health education model in a nursing interve
