We present a case of asymptomatic bronchial artery aneurysm that formed a fistula with part of the pulmonary artery (there was no definite fistula with the pulmonary vein). We were able to catheterize the feeding vessel but could not reach the aneurysm. We therefore injected a mixture of N-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate (NBCA; Histoacryl, B. Braun, Melsungen, Germany) and iodized oil (Lipiodol; Guerbet, Aulnay-sous-Bois, France) from the feeding vessel. The fistula, aneurysm, and feeding vessel were almost totally occluded. In the Balsas region of North Brazil (85% prevalence of goiter), 1876 goitrous subjects (1663 with goiter grade I and II and 103 with grade III multinodular goiter) were treated with 1 ml of iodized oil im (l-oil). OBJECTIVE: To investigate the relation between changes in serum vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) level after transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) progression, especially in relation to metastasis.
METHODS: Serum VEGF expression level, measured by quatitative sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA, R&D system), was measured before, 3 days and 4 weeks after TACE in 30 patients with HCC. The development of metastasis was evaluated at the end of the third month after TACE.

Surgery for advanced hepatocellular carcinomas (HCCs) has not been standardized. We report on a long-term tumor-free survivor who underwent extensive microwave coagulation therapy (MCT) for multiple bilobar HCCs. Internal radiation therapy with transarterial injection of iodine-131-labeled iodized oil (Lipiodol Ultra-Fluide [LUF]) was evaluated in 15 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma and eight with hepatic metastases. The authors report on 12 personal observations of lymphoportal fistulas, which represented 0.24% of their series of lymphographies. This rare complication of lymphography has no clinical or biological liver manifestations. Review of 71 cases in the literature confirmed that hepatic oil embolization only occurs when there are lymphatic masses, with or without associated thrombosis of the inferior vena cava.

Injection of Lipiodol UF into the distal epiphyses of tibia and femur in the dog was followed within several minutes by visualization of lymphatics draining the bone. Some of the radioopaque material was retained in the bone marrow cavity and tiny lymph vessels originating in that area could be seen. Contrast medium filled also the popliteal lymph node. The problem of migration of bone marrow lymphocytes through the lymphatics to the regional lymph nodes is discussed.

OBJECTIVE: To define the arteriographic features of Klippel-Trenaunay sydrome (KTS) and explore the feasibility of the treatment with intravascular administration of pingyangmycin lipiodol emulsion (PLE).

Transcatheter embolization was performed in 8 young patients (mean age 24.5 years) with intracerebral arteriovenous malformations. In total 12 arteries were embolized in 10 sessions.
