INTRODUCTION: Infants with isolated atrial septal defects are usually minimally symptomatic, and repair is typically performed after infancy. Early repair may be considered if there is high pulmonary blood flow and reduced respiratory reserve or early signs of pulmonary hypertension. We assessed prevalence and clinical characteristics of resistant hypertension (RH) and prevalence of false RH (white-coat effect [WCE] by home blood pressure [BP] monitoring), among a population of 302 treated hypertensive patients, mean age 66.6 (± 13.8), 67.5% women.
