IgE Cross-Reactivity of Cashew Nut Allergens.

BACKGROUND: Allergic sensitisation towards cashew nut often happens without a clear history of eating cashew nut. IgE cross-reactivity between cashew and pistachio nut is well described; however, the ability of cashew nut-specific IgE to cross-react to common tree nut species and other Anacardiaceae, like mango, pink peppercorn, or sumac is largely unknown. OBJECTIVES: Cashew nut allergic individuals may cross-react to foods that are phylogenetically related to cashew. We aimed to determine IgE cross-sensitisation and cross-reactivity profiles in cashew nut-sensitised subjects, towards botani

Demographic compensation maintains shrub population growth in a grazed desert steppe.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Grazing is a pervasive disturbance in dryland grasslands, yet its effects on shrub populations remain difficult to predict because it can influence different demographic processes in various ways. Understanding whether shrub populations decline or persist under grazing requires demographic approaches that integrate vital rates across the full life cycle in temporally varying environments. METHODS: We monitored populations of Caragana microphylla, a long-lived leguminous shrub widely distributed across the dryland grasslands of northern China, from 2022 to 2024 in both gra

XoxF and the Calvin-Benson cycle mediate lanthanide-dependent growth on methanol in Bradyrhizobium and Sinorhizobium.

Nodule-forming bacteria play crucial roles in plant health and nutrition by providing fixed nitrogen to leguminous plants. Despite the importance of this relationship, how nodule-forming bacteria are affected by plant exudates and soil minerals is not fully characterized. Here, the effects of plant-derived methanol and lanthanide metals on the growth of nitrogen-fixing Rhizobiales are examined. Prior work has demonstrated that select Bradyrhizobium strains can assimilate methanol only in the presence of lanthanide metals; however, the pathway enabling assimilation remains unknown. In this stud

A multi-site, multi-year labeled polygon dataset for agricultural land use and land cover mapping in central and northern Benin.

Accurate land use and land cover (LULC) mapping in West African agricultural landscapes is severely constrained by the scarcity of high-quality, geo-referenced reference data. In the central and northern regions of Benin, this limitation is particularly acute due to the high spatial heterogeneity of the landscape, the small size of agricultural plots, the diversity of farming practices, and the logistical challenges of conducting field surveys in remote agro-pastoral areas. This data article addresses this gap by describing a multi-site, multi-annual dataset of geo-referenced labeled polygons
