Lasers for treatment of androgenetic alopecia: an in-depth analysis.

With recent developments in laser technologies and growing demand for alternative treatments, laser therapy has been increasingly studied as a treatment for androgenetic alopecia (AGA). Low-level laser therapy (LLLT) and fractional laser therapies have been marketed as safe and effective options for treating AGA in comparison with traditional drug therapies, which are associated with unwanted side effects. We discuss the history of development and implementation of laser devices for treatment of hair loss and outline the proposed mechanism of action for LLLT and fractional lasers. Additionally

Photobiomodulation Therapy on Brain: Pioneering an Innovative Approach to Revolutionize Cognitive Dynamics.

Photobiomodulation (PBM) therapy on the brain employs red to near-infrared (NIR) light to treat various neurological and psychological disorders. The mechanism involves the activation of cytochrome c oxidase in the mitochondrial respiratory chain, thereby enhancing ATP synthesis. Additionally, light absorption by ion channels triggers the release of calcium ions, instigating the activation of transcription factors and subsequent gene expression. This cascade of events not only augments neuronal metabolic capacity but also orchestrates anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-apoptotic respons

Effects of the invasive and non-invasive systemic photobiomodulation using low-level laser in experimental models: A systematic review.

Systemic photobiomodulation (PBM) of the blood or over blood vessels has been associated with bio-stimulating, vasodilating, and anti-inflammatory properties. This treatment modality has been used for modulating inflammatory processes, tissue repair, atherosclerosis, and systemic arterial hypertension, and is described more often in clinical studies than experimental models. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to conduct a literature review regarding the effect of systemic PBM involving the intravascular laser irradiation of blood (ILIB) or non-invasive vascular photobiomodulation (VPB

The use of low level laser therapy in the treatment of temporomandibular joint disorders. Review of the literature.

INTRODUCTION: The temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) have been identified as the most important cause of pain in the facial region. The low level laser therapy (LLLT) has demonstrated to have an analgesic, anti-inflammatory and biostimulating effects. The LLLT is a noninvasive, quick and safe, non-pharmaceutical intervention that may be beneficial for patients with TMDs. However the clinical efficiency of LLLT in the treatment of this kind of disorders is controversial. OBJECTIVES: Literature review in reference to the use of LLLT in the treatment of TMDs, considering the scientific evidence

Photobiomodulation therapy for accelerating clear aligner tooth movement: A literature review.

Clear aligner therapy (CAT) is widely used in adult orthodontic treatment, but prolonged treatment duration remains a major limitation. Photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) has been proposed as a noninvasive adjunct to accelerate tooth movement by modulating cellular activity and bone remodeling. This narrative review summarizes the literature on PBMT in orthodontic tooth movement, with particular attention to its application in CAT, effects on treatment efficiency, and safety considerations. Published clinical studies generally suggest that PBMT may be associated with faster alignment and shorte

Photobiomodulation Regulation as One Promising Therapeutic Approach for Myocardial Infarction.

Myocardial infarction refers to myocardial necrosis caused by acute or persistent coronary ischemia and hypoxia. It is considered to be one of the significant crises threatening human health in the world. Following myocardial infarction, collagen gradually replaces the original tissue due to the loss of many cardiomyocytes, myocardial contractile function decreases, and myocardial fibrosis eventually leads to heart failure. Phototherapy is a new treatment which has shown superior efficacy on the nerve, skeletal muscle, skin, and other tissues. Likewise, there is growing evidence that photother

Systematic review of low-level laser therapy for adult androgenic alopecia.

Alopecia is a common disorder affecting over half of the world's population. Within this condition, androgenic alopecia (AA) is the most common type, affecting 50% of males over 40 and 75% of females over 65. Anecdotal paradoxical hypertrichosis noted during laser epilation has generated interest in the possibility of using laser to stimulate hair growth. In this study, we aimed to critically appraise the application of low-level laser therapy for the treatment of AA in adults. A systematic review was performed on studies identified on Medline, EMBASE, Cochrane database, and clinicaltrials.org

Non-Fourier thermal transport induced structural hierarchy and damage to collagen ultrastructure subjected to laser irradiation.

Comprehending the mechanism of thermal transport through biological tissues is an important factor for optimal ablation of cancerous tissues and minimising collateral tissue damage. The present study reports detailed mapping of the rise in internal temperature within the tissue mimics due to NIR (1064 nm) laser irradiation, both for bare mimics and with gold nanostructures infused. Gold nanostructures such as mesoflowers and nanospheres have been synthesised and used as photothermal converters to enhance the temperature rise, resulting in achieving the desired degradation of malignant tissue i
