Prognostic value of lymph node ratio in patients with non-metastatic cervical cancer treated with radical hysterectomy: A population-based study.

BACKGROUND: The lymph node ratio (LNR) is an emerging prognostic biomarker in multiple malignancies. This study aimed to explore the prognostic role of LNR in patients with non-metastatic cervical cancer undergoing radical hysterectomy. METHODS: Data were extracted from the SEER 17 registry. Univariate and multivariate Cox analyses were performed to identify the prognostic factors associated with cancer-specific survival (CSS). A nomogram was constructed to predict the 5-year and 10-year CSS. Survival analyses stratified by the status of LNR and different adjuvant treatments were performed us

Lymph node counts and ratio in axillary dissections following neoadjuvant chemotherapy for breast cancer: a better alternative to traditional pN staging.

BACKGROUND: Neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NCT) for breast cancer might change the number of involved and detected nodes in axillary lymph node dissections (ALND). In this study, we analyzed whether the number of dissected nodes and the lymph node ratio (LNR, defined as the proportion of involved nodes in dissected nodes) would have a better prognostic value than traditional pN staging. METHODS: A total of 569 patients with stage II, III breast cancer were included in this retrospective study. All patients underwent a median of three cycles of NCT followed by mastectomy and ALND. Clinical and path

lymph node ratio as a prognostic factor in patients with stage III rectal cancer treated with total mesorectal excision followed by chemoradiotherapy.

PURPOSE: To investigate the prognostic impact of lymph node ratio (LNR) on survival in the patients with Stage III rectal cancer. METHODS AND MATERIALS: We retrospectively reviewed the data of 421 consecutive patients who underwent total mesorectal excision followed by chemoradiotherapy for rectal cancer from 1996 to 2006. The 232 patients with positive lymph nodes (LNs) were divided into four groups according to LNR quartiles: LNR <or=0.1 (n = 69), <or=0.2 (n = 49), <or=0.4 (n = 54), and >0.4 (n = 60). The association between LNR and survival was evaluated by the Kaplan-Meier method and mult

The ratio between metastatic and examined lymph nodes is an independent prognostic factor for patients with resectable middle and distal bile duct carcinoma.

BACKGROUND: The lymph node ratio, defined as the ratio between the number of lymph node metastasis and the total number of lymph nodes examined, has been reported to be an important prognostic factor in other gastrointestinal carcinomas except middle and distal bile duct carcinomas. METHODS: Between 1991 and 2004, 62 consecutive patients who underwent surgery for middle and distal bile duct carcinoma were retrospectively analyzed concerning prognostic factors. RESULTS: The median number of lymph nodes examined was 12 (range 5 to 38). The overall 5-year survival rates of patients with lymph n

Significance of metastatic lymph nodes ratio in overall survival for patients with resected nonsmall cell lung cancer: a retrospective cohort study.

OBJECTIVE: The tumor, node and metastasis stage is widely applied to classify lung cancer and is the foundation of clinical decisions. However, increasing studies have pointed out that this staging system is not precise enough for the N status. In this study, we aim to build a convenient survival prediction model that incorporates the current items of lymph node status. METHODS: We performed a retrospective cohort study and collected the data from resectable nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) (IA-IIIB) patients from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database (2006-2015). [Density and SUV ratios from PET/CT in the detection of mediastinal lymph node metastasis in non-small cell lung cancer].

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Mediastinal involvement in lung cancer is a highly significant prognostic factor for survival, and accurate staging of the mediastinum will correctly identify patients who will benefit the most from surgery. Positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) has become the standard imaging modality for the staging of patients with lung cancer. The aim of this study is to investigate 18-fluoro-2-deoxy-glucose (18F-FDG) PET/CT imaging in the detection of mediastinal disease in lung cancer. METHODS: A total of 72 patients newly diagnosed with non-small cell lung

Advancing Prognostic Accuracy Beyond Classical N Staging in Colorectal Cancer: An Observational Cohort Study to Define a Lymph Node Ratio Based Risk Score.

PURPOSE: Lymph node involvement is critical for colorectal cancer (CRC) staging and prognosis. The lymph node ratio (LNR), defined as the ratio of metastatic to total examined lymph nodes, has shown promise as a superior prognostic metric compared to traditional TNM staging and total lymph node yield (LNY). This study compared the prognostic value of LNR, N staging, and LNY and developed an LNR-based survival risk score (LNR-SRSCRC). Secondary objectives included evaluating the impact of multidisciplinary team (MDT) care and molecular markers (KRAS, NRAS, BRAF) on survival. PATIENTS AND METHO
