Mastocytosis implies involvement by excessive numbers of mast cells, of skin and/or other organs. Symptoms may be absent to severe, even occasionally life-threatening. Breed predispositions to canine digital neoplasms are well known. However, there is currently no statistical analysis identifying the least affected breeds. To this end, 2912 canine amputated digits submitted from 2014-2019 to the Laboklin GmbH & Co. KG for routine diagnostics were statistically analyzed. Mastocytosis is a term referring to a heterogeneous group of disorders characterized by abnormal mast cell (MC) accumulation in the skin and/or internal organs. In children, the disease involves mostly the skin (cutaneous mastocytosis; CM), whereas in adults, the disease is usually systemic (systemic mastocytosis; SM). A survey of the occurrence of mast cell tumours in CD-1 mice (Caesarian derived) recorded nine tumours in 24352 mice used for carcinogenicity studies over a period of six years (1984-1989). Disease monitoring of amphibian assurance populations is an important buffer against ongoing global extinctions. This study documents a high incidence of neoplasia in a zoo-managed assurance population of Puerto Rican crested toads (Peltophryne lemur; PRCTs). Over 5 years, neoplasia was diagnosed in 17/49 (35%) submitted adult PRCTs and was the cause of death or euthanasia in 13/17 (72%).
